I guess the guys are just getting lax cause Jake hasn't been around LOL Hopefully we can remedy that soon!
As a long time customer with STT Southern and now as a coach, I can assure you that the previous as well as the present Southern Director would NEVER, NEVER say that a bump of any kind.....polite, slight, whatever; is OK. The very last thing any of us want to happen is any kind of contact out on the track. Close passing is allowed in the "A" group and many times, they don't pass as close as they are capable of doing.......just less risk when there is some space between you and the person you are passing. I do like the suggestion about stickers being issued for the Novice group classroom attendees. There is a reason we hold classroom and I really don't think it is too much to ask that the person attend when they are suppose to be there. There is a lot of good information being shared in the class, plus it informs you, the Novice rider what we are going to be doing on the next session out on the track. Don't get me wrong, most of the folks attend just like they are suppose to do, but it seems that every single track day there will be at least a couple that feel like it just doesn't pertain to them.......then they want to know what we are going to do on the next session out, when we line up in hot pit. As far as I am concerned, the inside passing issue will get you pulled off of the track for a warning faster than anything else with me, and here are the reasons why: 1. Everyone in Novice has been instructed that there is NO inside passing allowed. Consequently, when a rider is setting up for and starting a turn in, he/she SHOULD NOT have to worry about someone coming up their inside and affecting their line. We are talking, in many cases, very new riders that could very possibly panic and run off track or change their line and run into someone else.....because of something you did, that you shouldn't have done. 2. An inside pass is more dangerous than passing on the outside because if you go down while passing on the inside, there is a very good chance you will take out the rider you are trying to pass. 3. I know that many new riders in Novice totally put it out of their mind that someone may pass them on the inside, so they are absolutely NOT PREPARED for it............why?.....because we told them that it was not allowed. Not being allowed in the Novice group means that it is NOT ALLOWED for EVERYONE in the Novice group..........It ain't optional! Track days can be one of the most fun things you can do on a motorcycle, but, the rules that have been established in each group are there for a reason, and trust me, it's not to see if we can spoil your day by making you abide by the rules. It's a lot more fun when you and your bike can go home in one piece.
Ive done trackdays with several different trackday providers, and i feel safest riding with stt,ive done about 18 days a yr average for 4yrs and have never heard "rubbing is ok".Staff can not be at every spot on the track and therefore it is also our "stt customers"responsibility to report riders out on the track riding unsafe, for everybodys protection. It has been said time and time again,"tell a staff member about a problem while u are still at the track, not a week later on the forum, where there is no chance to correct the problem or allow an explaination".Seems to me that someone that waits till days later to complain on the forum and claim to "find other places to ride",is really just trying to hijack stt . If u think close passes by riders is not fun,try that other TD provider, where their control riders will buzz and bump you but pull you in for an "agressive pass". Just my two cents. See everyone at Barber the 29th and 30th.
I am looking for my video of a CR in that other org buzzing me in the middle of the back straight at Road Atlanta. I wonder why someone that says they won't ride with a particular track day org hangs around their forums. Seems kind of odd to me.
Look at this fool.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIFra7kHou8 I am priming the 1 handed sanded bodywork today!!
Damn! Who let that fool on the track? He just fell over turning right! Must have been his first track day!
Must have thought there was a wolf behind him instead of a sheep  Strangest thing I ever saw as we were on a second lap and not going fast at all. But the sheepcam sees all
Criticism is not all bad (nor always correct) I find it much more amusing when someone comes on and asks about a rule/procedure for someone else. I ride with both and have stories about CRs in both (largely I keep them to myself) but then I also have classic crashes by other attendees also. In the end there is pros and cons to both systems (and others) so folks are free to choose. Or even ride both and just follow the rules of the group you are with. I have ridden with fourteen different organizers over the year that I can remember and had likes and dislikes with almost everyone.
Yep... I remember everything... As I saw asphalt on the visor I was like... "This did not just happen!" Tire Warmers and 2 Laps in is still no good for a V with 5 Days on it...My Fault 100%.. I am just thankfull I was able to ride it back in, Not cause a Red Flag, Dump the pebbles, change tires and get back out there... Thanks for the Vid!!
First one in awhile.... Oh well..... Just send me up one of them 2012 750's and Bill it to Trevor Sadler!! Blue/White Please!!!
We need to start a club for people who this has happened to. As a matter of fact, mine happened just a few yards from your spot.
You guys can have that club! I am going to stay in the other one as long as I can, but if I do join I hope it isn't like my airline status! I don't want to have to do it every year to stay in.
