Here's hoping Monticello will have a change of heart and revive the STT Eastern schedule. They did an about-face in '09....I'll be checking the STT schedule with crossed fingers.

your not kidding man, not having monti put a real cramp in my trackday plans. i was aiming to ride mmc exclusively since it took just over an hour to get there for me. having to drive down to njmp, or even out to pocono makes it much more of a pita for me to get to the track.

i doubt mmc will have a change of heart this season, but perhaps for 2012 we might get lucky.

    Re: Noise complaints at MMC

Maybe if they have to put up barriers, they'll have to invite us back to help cover the cost. :D
At least we have an explanation why we lost the track. Thanks Jim!

thats a good find with that article. but now more than ever i dont see bikes returning unless they install the sound barriers, but from what the article said it doesnt sound like that is an affordable option at this time.

I don't get it. If noise is such a big issue, why don't they just put excessive restrictions on exhaust for the bikes like Laguna Seca does?

I got a marketing email today from MMC and took the opportunity to send a reply to Chris F. (VP) explaining my disappointment with their decision to eliminate track days. To my surprise, he replied stating:

"our Track was designed for Cars, and without the proper safety barriers and runoff for motorcycle enthusiasts we felt it important to eliminate these events until which time improvements are made to support them"

I responded stating that if this was truly the case, I will eagerly await the improvements.
    I guess time will tell....

Hopeful news! At least MMC is still communicating with us. My impression was that most safety issues were resolved last year. MMC put up extensive tire barriers (with brand-new tires!). I rode Monticello about 10 times and never heard of anyone hitting anything off track. No worse than NJMP and certainly better than Pocono.

Noise isn't the primary issue. Some neighbors would piss and moan if you hung 'em with a new rope.
'seen it before. People move in next to the rod & gun club, then bitch when ya' shoot skeet on Sunday.
