Anyone have room on a trailer that can possibly take my bike? I'm in River North, downtown Chicago. Hoping to do my first track day at ACC next weekend. I think currently my best option is just to wear my suit and ride the bike down to ACC, unless anyone can help. Can be flexible on which day to attend. Please let me know, or if you have other suggestions! I've never rented truck/trailer myself before, so a bit wary of that first-time-adventure as well....
If you can’t find anyone, I’ve rented a cargo van from enterprise before to go pick up a bike. This was a couple years ago but they charged a flat daily rate with unlimited mileage. I think it was like $60-70.
I bought a cheap front wheel chock (~$15 from harbor freight or hardware store), bolted it to a board that I then pushed up against the back of the front seats and strapped the bike down with a set of ratchet straps (~$10).
Hey, find anyone yet? Looks like the rentals need to be multi-day because of the holiday. Maybe 50/50 for some kind of rental?
I didn't find anyone, but I also did not sign up. My bike is just ready from some repair now, it was cutting it too close for me to sign up. I am planning on doing the 2nd weekend of July at Blackhawk next. Still no idea about trailer, even then, but I guess I was thinking that I may just ride the bike there....... Sucks there are no dates at ACC in June!
I wouldn't recomend riding there. You'll be exhausted making for a tough ride home. I'm in bucktown and after borrowing or renting trailers I would up with a mototote hitch rack which works great, if you have a vehicle with adequate tongue capacity.
Thanks. It sounds like I may try to rent a trailer. I don't have a car right now that even has a hitch.
@Dimitry Braznichenko PM me, and we can talk. I live in Streeterville across the street from Navy Pier and I will be frequenting both Blackhawk and Autobahn for the remainder of the season. I usually use a uhaul trailer and normally carry two bikes (mine and the GF's) but sometimes I ride a weekend and she doesn't and vice versa. If you get a solid wheel chock system we can probably haul 3. Maybe we can work something out.
