My last 3 bike purhases came from several states away which makes a fun road trip but can be a pain at service time. The closest dealer to me is 1+hrs so local is relative though. 1) BCM was great with Bruce and Suzie but 6hrs away and I don't know anything about the new owners. 2) Section 8 Superbike is very good and seem to be suspention guru's but 10hrs away. 3) NA Warhorse? I haven't purchased a bike from them but I have mixed impresions from other stuff. Maybe they're so big it depends on who you deal with. 4) Fred's in Syracuse? 5) Mikmar? Mike Duzick. I've heard good things and bought some parts from him once. I get the impresion it's a small shop? which isn't a bad thing, do they sell bikes? 6) Feracci ? When Progressive Powersport was in Ithaca, NY I didn't have this question. I simply went there for every thing. I'd like to find another place like that. So who does everyone use and why or why not? Gavin
Ferracci is a client of mine, so I can help with answers about them. However, I'm not sure what you need from a dealer? Service? A new bike? Selection? Mike Duzick is one of the best service guys out there. Yes, they're small, but you get well taken care of. People travel from very far away to get him to service their Duck.
Mikmar! Yup, he sells bikes. It's a 3 hour drive for me one way, but I won't go anywhere else. Service is second to none.
if I fit on a Ducati, I'd buy from Section 8. really nice folks, great supporters of STT. Since Duc's are made by Italians and Italians aren't known for their stature, I gotta rule 'em out... Lance
I curently have a 749s track bike that will need service at some point and I hope to buy a street Duc somtime in the next 6 months. I'm just looking for good service, knowlegable, honest & friendly people, and fair pricing. Service is more important than the cheapest price but some places think if you ride a Ducati you have endless funds. I don't. The bikes I'm looking at will most likely be sold for sticker $ so little things such as suspension set up or delivery or just the way you're treated make a difference. After you hand them $10k or $20k do they forget you as soon as you walk out the door? Are they looking for a one time proffit or a repeat customer? Sooo....Where is Mikmar located ? Gavin
You've just described Mikmar to a "T". Or would that be a "D" for Ducati?? Mikmar Motor Service R.R. 2 box 632 Paxinos, PA 17860 570-672-9110
Gavin....most people who know me or who have ever seen any of my motorcycles would probably agree that , having been toilet trained at gunpoint, I'm very fastidious and particular; if I wanted a Ducati....I'd buy it from Mike. And if it needed service work that I couldn't handle....I'd take it to Mike. In all the years I've been arguing with him, I've never heard anything negative from any of his customers about his ethics, his knowledge, or about the quality of his work. Bobby B.
Yeah, where is Mike, anyway? I miss your internet arguments, they were most entertaining and often informative. Too bad Mike doesn't work on Hondas, I'm trying to track down some sort of electrical issue. :?
thanks for the info HondaGirlToo. For some reason I never remember Mikmar when I need something , but I'm putting the # in my phone so I'll have it. If Bob would go to Mike even with all the arguing they do I'll definatly by checkin him out. Bob, Do you have the 1000 on the track yet? I wanted to check it out at Pocono in May but I was only there Sat. Did you sell your 600/750 ? Gavin
You're in PA - try Martin Eurosport, they have 2 stores in PA. I get my Duc serviced there & they are very good.
hello, i have bought my ducati from mike duzick. he is an incredible ducati mechanic, helpful and infinitely knowledgeable. but his best quality is his no nonsense attitude. he also taught me how to ride on the track but maybe he doesn't want me to say that in public... bcm (leslie grossman is the new owner) is another shop i can recommend. the head mechanic is kyle and he is incredibly knowledgeable. hope you will find the shop that fits best for you! corien
