Has anybody tried the cheap stands, like Power Stands, for trackday use?

My current Pit Bull stands are large and don't work well for warmers, especially for this new bike... and I'm thinking of getting the cheapies for getting warmers on and off at the track.

    Cheap stands, anybody? Thanks!

We use "handy industries" stands. I've had them for years without a problem.

Don't work well for Warmer?? Post some pics of the issues... Front or rear?? If front you might have the wrong pin.. There are no other stands that can compare to Pitbull. Just saying...

I've heard enough people say Pitbull is the best, but I'm not so convinced. Perhaps with a new design.

I use cheap stands, though not sure of the brand, and they are so much better than Pitbull, but only for the simply fact I can operate them by myself. Using a Pitbull stand, my 120 pound self cannot get enough leverage to lift the bike up, whereas the cheap stands I opt to use are a bit longer, thus allowing me to lift the bike.

Maybe this isn't a problem for large guys/98% of motorcycle riders!

I have big muscles for a girl :D

    I suppose if I added 50 pounds I wouldn't have a problem. No thanks!

I use DMP R-Spec stands and S-Spec Stands. I bought a front and rear for both models(4 Stands total), haven't had a problem with them and they come with some good interchangeble hardware for different size triple tree holes for the head mount lift on the S-Spec.

I got me a set of MJ moto gear stands for about $100. they work good for me so far and are not too flimsy. I think its not a bad deal for the money.

+1 been using MJ moto stands for 2 seasons. A few track days and all winter they're holding the bike up without any issues. :first:

    Get the front-head lift type

I have a trackside rear stand from cycle gear and a T Rex front stand. Both have been great for the three years I have used them.

I was getting ready to pull the trigger on one of those babys.... I would love it for warmers.... However after some research I found out the Frames on the GSX-R's are not designed for that holding point.. And after giveing Pit Bull a chance to build one they didnt recomend them neither unless you used a rear stand as well then making them useless imo... Also you cant work on one side ect,,or remove your belly pan...
Pitbull used one of their Prototypes down at Daytona with KWS/Chaz Davis on the Aprilia..Chaotic has one and I still drool everytime I see it...

I am sure Chris will chime in soon...:thumb:

I used t rex front and rear for a few years and no complaints. Why aren't the pit bulls working with your warmers?

OK, guys... I'm NOT parting with my PitBulls. They're just cumbersome and I'd rather leave them in the garage at home under the other bike.

Why they don't work with warmers... I have the forward handle rear stand, which at it's highest setting on the new CBR1000 doesn't have enough wheel clearance to EASILY install the warmers. It can be done but it's a pain in the ass. It IS great for changing tires though, because the cross bar is a nice rest for the wheel while you grapple with the axle.

The front is the large stand that raises the front from under the steering head, which is nice for some things, but a small under-fork front would be less of a pain.

I was just asking because I didn't want to throw 100 bucks for the cheapies if people had bad experiences with cheap ones bending or anything.

    Thanks!

Mine are the MJ Moto and as others have stated they have performed reasonably well at half a dozen weekends and at home during storage and maintenance. They don't show any indication of failing any time soon (knocks on wood).

    However.

I did have to do some filing and bending to get everything to work smoothly. I paid $90 shipped for the pair on eBay. I got what I paid for.
