Mark, I just wanted to e-mail in response to the novice school! I HAD A BLAST! I also learned a lot! I had the pleasure of doing the class at Barber Saturday March 18th and had a blast. Then I did Tally this weekend on Sunday March 26th and it is all finally starting to click for me. I am starting to see how things work! I have only been riding for 8 months this month with 6 weeks off from a broken hand. When I rode on the 18th at Barber Clyde could tell something was wrong and pulled me off to hot pits and talked to me and really made me feel comfortable on my bike! He made me put my accident behind me and start to focus on my bike now and the throttle! I was able to follow Jeff around for awhile as well as "forgive me" the guy on the yellow Ducati". They both were a phenomenal help. All of the instructors put forward an amazing amount of patience even with slow riders like myself! When Kevin Belden couldn't take his track day at Tally this weekend I was thrilled to have the chance to do the Novice School again. Clyde saw me and kept telling me roll on the throttle. More on the throttle! Which gave me encouragement! Then I tried to keep up with Kristen for awhile but couldn't. She was trying to get back around to me and by that time #2 can't think of his name either Justin????? I followed him around he was a HUGE HELP!!!!!! Pulled me into hot pits told me to lean off the bike a little more that will help get the speed too... then he had me follow him for a couple of laps and then he followed me. That was amazing I started to speed up! THANKS AGAIN! Then Kristen caught up with me on one of the sessions I followed her and then she followed me and then we hot pitted and she asked me what I wanted to work on I told her that I wanted to work on my right hand turn the "decreasing radius" she said OK. She was an awesome help with that too. Thanks. Like I said your novice program is an amazing one and anyone who ever ever wants to do track days I will seriously promote them your way because I fell that your school is the safest most fun way to learn the track! Thanks again for ALL of your hard work and all that you do!
Glad you had a great time. Our Novice instruction is the most important part of our track days down here in the South. Lois and I could not do all we do without our great group of instructors and track coaches. Thanks for all the kind words and hope to see you at the track again soon. Mark
That makes me feel good to hear because I'm nervous about getting back on too. The last time I rode my bike I wrecked. I rode a little cruiser once that was my friends after I pretty much healed up, but it wasn't the same bike and had a bad wobble that kind of freaked me out. I really want to get alot better, but I'll be green my first day.
Just wanted to re-state that I really think that the STT Novice instructors are top notch. Finished my 3rd novice track day this weekend (Barber) and can't wait for the next. I had thought that it was gonna be "one day as a novice and then get thrown to the wolves" but each novice day has truly been a learning experience. I'm looking forward to doing several more days as a novice before stepping up to intermediate and know that when the time comes I'll be ready with the help of your instructors. Thanks again. John
All it takes is a willingness to learn & a good set of tires right John Ya coming to Road Atlanta?
No road Atlanta for me. I gotta work. But you WILL be having to follow my slow butt around the track soon enough. Word to all.. The Duckhunter knows tires!! Do as he says. The Pilot Powers are superb.
