Hi, during the off season I am planning on doing something on my bike...guess what...front end update I have a gsxr 600 '07 and, as my pace increased, I am starting noticing all the 'problems' the bike has... In order: - front brakes suck - front end low - suspensions...this might not be an issue, I probably just need to refresh them Browsing the internet I got an idea, what if I swap the entire front end...taking one from a newer bike/model? I came across this and I have to say it doesn't look a bad idea at all. http://www.ebay.com/itm/11-15-Suzuk...ash=item3d0558749e:g:77YAAOSwZd1VeFtm&vxp=mtr Now of course I have no idea how difficult (or even possible) it is to put an entire front end from one bike to another. I don't really have a specific question for this post, I am just trying to see if anybody has something to suggest maybe from previous experiments. I think I have 3 options: - change bike (maybe taking a similar one already upgraded) - put the good stuff my self - swap the front end I am open to everything you guys have to suggest and I thank you in advance for the help. Cheers, Guido
Just have your forks revalved and new springs. Brakes can be fixed by better pads, better fluid, mc, rotors.
I agree. Just swapping for a newer front end isn't going to get you much unless that one happens to be revalved and sprung for you.
You will probably want to get fork cap extenders for the front and an adjustable rear shock to get your geometry right. I would skip the revalve and just buy cartridges for your forks. You can install them yourself pretty easily. Check out traxxion dynamics ak20 cartridges.
That series of GSXR really really like front and rear raised a lot. I don't know if you can get fork extenders with stock internals (to save money) but that will be a huge improvement. Unless the 11-13 forks are significantly longer than the ones you have know (very doubtful) it's not going to be an upgrade. You may also just need new fluid and a good cleaning to get the suspension back to a better condition. For the brakes, the GSXR master cylinder (what the brake lever is attached to) is the main issue. I swapped mine for an r6 unit and later a brembo 19x20. If you can find a set of OEM monoblocks (CBR, R6, GSXR) that is also a big upgrade but the mater cylinder is the biggie.
