Isn't Bluegrass' straight going to be similar to this?

That is freakin fast. I am geared really low(-1+3) on the RC51. I am sure I will be pegged, but wonder how bad I will get passed because of it.

Depends on the entry to the straight - at RA turn 14 you can carry a helluva lot of speed, on the 600 I'm terminal in 5th at the top of the hill and the bike is outa HP by the time I get to the bricks in 6th (it is a bone stock 03 CBR...), if Bluegrass has a slower turn onto the straight it'll reduce the top speed a bit (or at least the amount of time you spend at it hehe)

I guess we will need to bring a variety of gearing to see what works best. I need some extra 520 sprockets for the RC if anyone has any.

I believe the straight is ~4000ft, so you will be able to wring out most bikes to most corner campers delight, but you have to turn at T1 so I will expect to see the chutes opening way early on the litter bikes :)

So not to thread jack, I hope you are feeling better super girl :)

    haha, thanks!!

yeah, sorry to hijack the bluegrass thing :p

    i got some news:

the cranial nerve (the eye thing) is not damaged, just inflamed, and as soon as the inflammation goes away, i should be normal again (as normal as i was before, not any better).

they've also found some subdural fluid traces which is a normal and expected consequence of a head trauma, but according to the neurologist it will go away by itself, and nothing to worry about. i will see neurosurgeon next week, just to make sure.

i hope to remove the eye patch next week.

keep 'em crossed, please and thanks for all good wishes!!!

the fluid traces are normal they told me the same thing its your body trying to fix its self its rushes fluids to that part to reduce swelling or heal any internal bruises/ concussions is what they told me when i went down its the same thing that boxers and ufc fighters get with almost every good blow to the knoggin!! Sounds like you got lucky on that one so the real question is.... what kinda helmet were you running and well frankly would you recommend it!! of course if its something stella or femmoto im not picking it up lol

    LOL!!!

yeah, that's what i was told too.

    helmet, huh?

I swear by my helmet :)
i wear arai rx-7. there is not a single bruise on my head, which i think proves that this helmet is a good fit for my head. i have a second one, but I'm shopping for a spare helmet now.
I had thought about AGV, but frankly RX-7 has been good to me twice, so I might just go ahead and get another one.

Here are some pics. Since i fell in the grass, you can't really see much. i noticed slight scratches on the left side.
also interesting is that the visor is dirty from the inside

I'll add the pics from the crash too..

    Hello Mateys!

There has been barely any progress regarding my eye in the last three weeks until i went to the track on Saturday to help out and spectate... On the way home, I noticed that I could open the eye a bit more, and the pupil was a millimeter smaller. My eye also appears more "alive." Is is the track proximity?? Maybe ,-)

Progress is great, but so far only the eye lid and the pupil have improved, but the angle that my eye is pointing at stayed the same. Very frustrating, and admittedly, concerning. Yes, even pirates have concerns.

I went to see the Ophthalmologist for the follow up yesterday, and this time too he was happy to see some progress. To most of my questions though, he just shrugs his shoulders and says: 'I really don't know. We just have not had enough cases to be able to answer that question.' Both the Neurologist and the Ophthalmologist agreed that the nerve and tissue are not severed and all points to a successful recovery, at some point...
At this point, the time is really not an issue for me, but rather if the angle is going to improve or not. He could not answer that question.

I went to see the Neurosurgeon today and he was able to answer some of these questions.
He said that I will heal completely and that there is no need to worry whatsoever about if i will recover or not. Yes, it might take a few more weeks, but he said that it is normal that the lid and pupil recover first.
He prescribed me some steroids, although they might not even help at this point, but who knows. It won't hurt!
The Neurosurgeon also said that I should definitely exercise the eye, and swap the eye patch with the healthy eye as often as possible, especially when the angle improves a little. At least I will have a feeling that I am doing something towards the goal. It's just horrible not being able to do anything to help the nerve heal. Well, now I've got something to do!!
He also said that the subdural hygroma is gone by now, and i should not worry about it at all.
The pain when i shake my head is gone for a while now, and i stopped taking the ibuprofen. That's good news too, just not the one that i can see. My head also doesn't feel as "fragile" any longer. I can wear a helmet without being in pain. Hey, that's a start!!!!

I walked out of Neurosurgeons office a lot calmer than I have lately been. I will completely heal and there will be no permanent injuries to my eye, nerves, or my brain. Well, at least not more than was there before ,-)

I have been exercising a little bit, but today, as you can imagine, I have done a lot more. I can actually walk straight looking thru the affected eye only. (I know this must sound horrible, but it is a success). I was walking sideways when i tried it before...
Let's hope that the steroids will help and the exercise will speed up the recovery process.

I will let you know as soon as I see more recovery!!

Thank you all for the crossed fingers, thoughts, and prayers!!

    t.

soo, finally a little more update.

the steroids didn't really help in those 10 days, as expected.

last week though, my friend jeff said the angle got a little bit better, so i tried (as many times before) to cross my eyes and align a picture. and yes!!! this time it worked out.

for the first time in almost 8 weeks i was able to make a picture with both eyes. the first day it took me almost 30 seconds to do it, but yesterday and today i've been doing it all day and i can focus pretty fast (down to 2 seconds) and without crossing, just focus and i can bring the one eye where it should be. i can move my eyes to the left pretty far, and to center without the picture getting blurry if i keep the eyes leveled horizontally as well.

it's an awesome feeling to see WITH depth perception again. some things we take for granted. without having just a single picture like this in 8 weeks is a nightmare, trust me.

i still have a long way to go, but this is so far the biggest chunk (at least it feels like it). when i don't try to align the eyes, they're still like Quasimodo's. :(

i think that i can see the light at the end of the tunnel!!!! w00t w00t!
