I really thought we would get rained on tonght but did not. That was my first twilight run (@gingerman). We got off a bit late but otherwise it was a blast.
I came in at 4:10 pm and Hit a Down POUR of rain coming off 43, called David to see if it was Raining at the Track, Nope Suns out. Down POUR for about 10 miles. GREAT NIGHT!! :thumb:
7.13.12 Big Thank you to the STT/Tire peeps Great Track day meet some new peeps had a BLAST! Ed ,Thank You for your help in getting my Groove working better still think I need more Track time!! :thumb: TC crew drove down you guys Rock and the new guy is o.k. Hated to see anyone on sideline with bike problems should of rode my bike!!!! See you guys on the 27th!!
I had a great time, but with the long drive for me, I'm not sure three sessions is worth it. Normally there is four, but we started late, so novice got shorted. I might stick to ACC for now.
Had a small hang up or two but we still had a great time. Hopefully I'll have ol' helga runnin again by the 27th so you can show me some of those lines of yours curveman! Glad see that David was able to get all the holes plugged in the Triumph and Mango finally got the axle off the Zuki. Lots of great folks out at the track, as always. Got some decent pics at T1 and T2, will post up when I get back from work this weekend. Can't wait for the next one!
It is a nice event for the price but the track needs some serious attention. I saw one guy leave after the first time on the track. Its not good and they need to repave that place, its dangerous. Before anyone blasts me for what I am sayin , this is not a dig at STT. I think the new section is very nice but the tar seams EVERYWHERE is no good. Not to mention the 2 cones that were put in the middle of the long right hander , and the marbles that were coming up from the asphalt. Thanks but no thanks.:sorry:
The seams are well known and pretty easy to deal with and not so much an issue for decent lines. You certainly don't want both wheels in them at once. I did not find it bumpy or rough. Sure, it could use a bit of work, but I think it was very ridable and still fun. I did not like the trough going into turn 6, but crossing a perpendicular crossing there is required else you would not make the corner anyway. Yes the cones near 8 was not great it was repairs for us and was a minimal distraction and were eventually removed. That repair is the reason we got off late and the N group lost a session. From what I have heard, Grattan before the replace was much rougher.
I was not aware of the condition. Just wanted to make sure no one else made a 3 hour drive to a track that was in my opinion in need of attention thats all, not tryin to stir up any trouble.
Not the surface so much as its the coming out of T3 and get Bucked, simple fix put a Orange cone on it...................Same spot I think the guy on the Duc went down. Seams are no big deal and grattan is cool and I'm asking for a Track in my backyard for X-mas this year you guys can come stay the weekends.
I was not blasting you, in fact I agree that a 3 hour commuter for a 3-4 sessions depending on all the normal stuff (weather, track conditions, incidents, lack of eye candy, etc) is always a factor. Curveman, I too have asked Santa for a SE MI track. I think we will be disappointed yet again this year.
Dude I've been saying this for Ten years, my Uncle and Brother ran the Outside Track from the Oval the old road corse(60's). Most of it is still on the grounds be a great local!!! Camping!! Email Texas IMS I do once a year! The inside track sucks I've been on it, flat, small.
