Howdy I'm signed up for Gingerman on Sun. May 16th, and was wondering if there would be a suspension person there? I'm having my suspension finally serviced this week, and I'd was trying to get my bike re-setup before the first session if possible. Also, will there be anything particular about this track day over other "normal" track days? I heard something about a pre-arranged quiet time for a nearby church? Other than that, I'm assuming it'll be normal 20min sessions, lunch break, etc etc and just how bad are the 2 strips that run along the track? thanks
Someone else will have to answer about the suspension, but quiet time is on Sunday only and as far as the seams in the track...THEY DO NOT EXIST...GET THEM OUT OF YOUR MIND!!!
May 16 is a Sunday Like you said there is a quiet time. Usually we do 1 complete rotation of groups then the break/early lunch. There are seams, but they are not everywhere. If you cross them at an angle and don't ride in or along side of one there is no issue.
He's right. Once you realize the seams aren't as bad as they look, you'll be fine. Just ride and have fun! I'll be there on the 16th too
Yeah but the original post said SATURDAY May 16th. Wasn't sure which day he was refering to so I pointed out the Sunday only quiet time.
Dont worry about the seems unless its (God forbid) wet. Thats the only time they are a real problem. Cross them at an angle and it wont be a problem. SEE YOU THERE.
even if you rode the wrong lines and rode along the seams....they only feel funny. they don't actually affect you.
"rode the wrong lines and rode along the seams" I had a student tell me there is less traffic that way. And no, it was not Jig.
i second that. i thought craig was lying...then i rode his bike. that was um...exciting  i have hit the seams at nearly every angle and ridden along them with both wheels in the seam (yes, there was less traffic while i was there) and haven't crashed because of them. if the seams still are a concern, grab an instructor and have them tow you around a few laps. you will see the right lines as well as how little the seams affect the bike (unless you are following craig)
i'll be sure to irritate all the instructors in Int. with my constant begging for a tow around. I've never been to Gingerman, but I keep hearing about the seams of doom, so I figured I'd ask. If you see a pitifully slow yellow 600rr at gingerman, please feel free to pull in front of me and direct me to follow you around.
Any one want to plan a first timer Track Walk for Saturday night... If thats allowed there :?: We can talk about where we will be Backing it in at And Power sliding out
Gingerman would be wicked....without those seams - there I said it, I could probably go faster there without them as they do chagne the line you can run thru a corner in my humble opinion - makes for a good challenge either way - but ya don't run in them ick......and if it rains remember - don't clip the puddles......
without those seams....you wouldn't have reference points that let you know if you're tipping in early....drifting wide, etc. i use them as visual markers in three seperate spots to determine throttle application. so i'd go slower without them.
I know myself, turbo12, that asian kid and a few others will be there saturday and walking the track.
