Easy there. I understand your thought process AND agree. However $100 for some is not the same as for others. There are plenty of gloves that will do the job for $100. They may not be as comfortable or be good for multiple crashes but he also has to buy other gear as well. So buy the best you can afford and afford means give up some lattes if needed. It is more important to buy gear at or above some minimum and always wear it ;)

I understand that, but honestly you can't put a price on your body and lets be real, if we can't afford to spend an extra $100 on something that will most likely be put to use, this isn't the sport to be in. I've tried the cheap glove route thinking that same way, not even a half a season in the palms ripped without even crashing.. (alpinestars btw)

Or he could shop and find something:

Personally I have Held Phantoms but then I make decent money and am a bit of a glove whore (multiple set of a few brands) But you can get a decent glove for under $100 if you have to. Just like I am a huge fan of Aria but you can Scorpian for less that is still a decent helmet.

There is a lot of no-no's that I have seen (can you say flip up face) that would scare me FAR more than a $90 pair of gloves. Shoot how many people ride out of date helmets. Sadly the number is not zero.

My hands are what puts food on the table. Once I realized this, I stopped buying cortech every two years (ripped palms w/o crashing) and picked up a set of handroids. I do wear a pair of cheap icons for going to the store and back...
