I'd like to! There needs to be more than 3-5 bikes on the grid.

So get Hanshaw out of retirement, I know you have his hot line. I'll be back full rounds next year. I know possibly a couple CCS converts coming over. I'm hoping for 10 deep in the big bikes. Bring it kid!!!

I'll believe it when I see it. You bail out of racing event plans as much as Smith....:fencing:

We are only doing the Grattan and Mid O rounds in 2014 to save for a 1k in 2015 so add another for that season :woot:.

read Mike's post below. Spot on.

I know it gets repeated over and over, but lap times should be the bottom of the list on track day. its practice boys. I always say "no transponder, no worries." Use this valuable time to practice technique, staying SMOOOTH, trying different apexes, but the absolute BEST aspect of all- TAKE ADVANTAGE of having the great instructors out there. Going faster will come. You could run 16's at Grattan on a SBTT day, but come race day if the guys ahead of you are running 12's, it doesn't matter, right?
Ask questions. Worry about lap times when your doing your practice laps at that next WERA or CCS event. Keep the bike on the track and most importantly, HAVE FUN!

last time i had a lap timer on at a track day i had less fun. took it off and had more fun. chasing times sucks. learning to get smoother and trying to stay with the "slow-fast" guys like JT [sandbagger] so you can see what they're doing will make you faster without even realizing it.

and here's to j-fuggin-t; the fastest slow guy i know...

Lmfao.. Quick.. Not fast. (Don't flip Eddie!!!) :D

You're correct though just riding with faster ppl will make you faster, they'll pass you and you'll realize "shit I can go faster there".

Btw how was I sandbagging? I just got my license that day lol. And that was #4 complete race weekend. Don't worry you can be the sandbagger next year I'll have a white plate. (Or Eddie would end up with murder charges :D )

And I don't look at a timer until after the session. While lap times are a definition of riding, esp in advanced the novice an intermediate guys should worry about honing skills. Just my opinions though. If you are in advance and you can't better your time then something is wrong, should you stress over them? Nope, but they should get lower if that's you're goal. Let's be honest it's a track not a Sunday ride..

I think you can have both! I enjoy trying to stay with the quick and fast or faster and quicker guys. As it was said here before you can learn a sh*t load, just watching the guys that pass you and slowly or fast pull away. However I have my lap timer running but I can't see it while I'm riding. I check it out after each turn. Too me its a fun tool to see progress and it helps me to judge if things went into the right direction. Chasing a lap time on the other hand did not work for me either. I tried it once and I couldn't improve at all. So now I just go out and have fun and bit by bit I do go a lil faster.

I'm very new to this, two track days so far, but a lap timer is one of the next things i'm going to buy. is this a mistake? I'm really curious about how much, and how fast i'm improving. I learned with cars, that what feels fast is often slower, and sometimes i was actually faster on my warm up lap then when i was really trying... i've got no interest in being able to tell people i run an x'xx.xx
