That tire has been frozen at some point. That's what letting a tire get too cold for too long looks like.
Looks like a Dunlop. I've got several Dunlop race tires if you need one. 211 and slicks 190/55 and 190/60 some new, some take offs. Where are you in Michigan. On Monday I'll be driving from Port Huron, mi to Ohio. If you need one ASAP. Also these guys http://dunlopracing.com can ship you one in two days.
The only time that I know the tire was in the cold (below freezing)is when they shipped it to me, it warmed up enough to consider heating the garage so I took my wheels off had them mounted then put back in the house till 2 weeks ago, when I was installing the brake lines.
:thumb: It is Dunlop, I live right by metro airport. I talked to Sterling @Dunlopracing the tire will be here Wednesday, my problem is getting it done during the week since I drive round trips Monday thur Friday to Scarborough Ontario, it's a 530 mile turn, in fact I drive threw Sarnia every night. Thanks for the offer though very kind of you.
Yamaha r1 Temps are predicted to be kinda cold at night around 35 and mid 50s for high but that always changes.
if you had that tire shipped to you over the winter, it was damaged in transit. last year we ordered tires mid winter, 3 out of the 5 we recieved looked like that, or worse. when they are frozen, and thrown around by the workers at fed ex/ups ect... they crack like crazy when they hit the belt or concrete. they wont do what your pic looks like by just freezing. they need to be frozen and thrown, dropped, or distorted in some way while frozen. think about prozen plastic shattering. that is what happened. in our case, i saw this the day they were delivered and we called the place we bought them from. they asked for pictures, said it happeneds all the time, and sent us new replacements at no charge and call tags to pick up the damaged ones. good luck, Ski
I didn't take my tires off my bike to store inside this winter, didn't see any cracking..they look good. Should I be buying new tires before I ride?
Out.. got a few things left to do, dyno tune, get tires, set up the new trailer.. but more importantly its easter weekend & it should be fun with my 3 yr old *edit* oh and its gonna be out of my workable temp range
I would chuck em and buy some new ones. Slicks are not made to take below freezing temps for long periods. Call any of the track side tire distributors and they will tell you the same thing. Sorry......
view from deck this am, about an hour east of the track. the track is more north and west, closer to the lake, they may have received more. supposed to warm up later in week but, today's high is only supposed to reach 34. bring your long johns. ride safe, Ski
