Monte is probably reluctant to announce exactly when he plans to run Grattan backwards for fear that attendance will suffer. A lot of people don't care for it in that direction. Not really sure why. I personally like the change of pace occasionally. Dicing with Monte & T2 for a couple of sessions last Summer made for one of my favorite days all season!

BTW, according to C'box, that wasn't rain at RA, it was ice.

Grattan backwards is excellent, totally different character, and the hump turns into a nice jump if you stay on the gas! If anyone is hesitant to do go, have an open mind it's really fun.

Gratton backwards rocks! I've ridden all the South tracks and most of the midwest tracks and Gratton backwards is my favorite! Try it, you'll like it!

Grattan is a blast backwards ...

Sucks when your bike spews oil and catches on fire at the end of the straight though, dont ask me how I know ...

Dude, I was too far behind you when it let go. Sucked for me, but I was more worried about what might be happening to you. I turned around after the Bus Stop & went back to tell the corner worker to head your way with his fire extinguisher.

I appreciate it .. when I got off my bike, I didnt know what the universal signal for "bring a fire extinquisher" was ... granted I didn't realize that I was billowing smoke either, I thought I was the only one that knew it was on fire :p

Coulda been a lot worse, luckily I had just gotten the body work on with the belly pan or I'd have ruined the straight for everyone.

oh yeah, and lesson of that day ... SAFETY WIRE YOUR OIL FILTER. I feel stupid for letting it happen, but I'm pretty sure the oil filter backed off =/

I was the bike directly behind you when your bike went up in smoke. You should have seen it. The cloud covered the entire track and I couldn't tell if you had wrecked or what happened.

Props though on keeping it on two wheels. The whole time I was thinking I'm going to either get hit from the rear or fall down. Hope to see you at the track again. Jeremy

haha, nice. Too bad no one got a picture, I'd like to see what it looked like. The scary part is I had no clue it was happening. I went to weight the peg at the end of the straight and my foot slipped off from the oil that was on it; thats the only way I knew anything was wrong. It even took a second to click after that happened that maybe I shouldnt attempt the 5th gear corner comming up :p Luckily the front tire didn't get oil on it or I would have gone down when I tried to brake before running off and probably dumped the belly pan full of oil all over the track.

But you will definatley see me at the track again, different bike though, with the oil filter securly wired. I'd like to try grattan backwards again since I didnt get all that many laps in that session. From what I got to ride, it was a blast.

I hope that's not the case. If it is, maybe Monte can PM those of us who want to know. I was planning on doing fewer days at Grattan this year in order to try some new tracks...Beaver Run, Barber, Putnum, etc. But, I definitely want to be at any counter clockwise event(s).

I want to weigh in on this.... I've run this direction on three days. Does anybody else feel that running backwards at Grattan is REALLY unsafe? There are at least 2 turns with 0 run-off. I've had a couple conversations (that I didn't start) in which this was the subject. At the very least, it's far better to run in the regular direction from a safety point of view. Any opinions on this?
