Who's going to be riding Advance this Sunday? Any instructors/control riders willing to spend a session or two with me? This will be my first track day after almost year off. On top of that it will be my first time out on the new bike. Must admit I am a bit nervous. Being that I am coming off an SV650 onto a 749S, I'd appreciate some feedback/advice/pointers on braking points, turn-in points, etc. Most important, in case it takes a bit to get up to speed I apologize in advance so be kind and don't stuff me. :)

Feel free to seek any of the staff members out... we are there for your benefit, but we cant help if you dont ask.

I will be on the yellow and black R6 right next to the tech garage. I will be more than happy to help you out on the new bike!

    Camping?

another question about Grattan... did a search and couldn't seem to find the answer... I'll be up there for both the 5th and 6th.....So is there Camping available at Grattan or can I crash in the back of the SUV in the lot or somewhere close by?

    Re: Camping?

Yeah, you can camp for free outside the gates in a small field near the entrance or you can pay a fee and camp inside the track. Typically they don't let you camp inside the track on Fri. nights but that may have changed.

Thanks Justin. :) I'll be following my friend around on his SV the first couple sessions. Hopefully that will give me a good reference for speed (whenever I look down at the speedometer I am going twice as fast as I think I am on this bike...makes keeping under triple digits difficult on the highway :? ). I'd love to go out with you after that and get some pointers/feedback.

Ann and I will be there this weekend with 6 of our HSTA riding buddies. Hope to setup somewhere in the middle of the parking area near the tech garage. I will be in the A group with Gregg and Gary and yes this is my first weekend as well. Plan to come up to speed at a controlled pace and stay out of the way. Look forward to seeing you and your crew on Saturday.

Counter only sucks if you suck at it. I kinda like it but I'm a little quicker than most in that direction.... 8)

Takes a big set to make the blind right at the "end" of the straight into CCW T1 WFO in 4th. The track actually flows better CCW IMO.

But as long as I don't low-side and crack my frame like some timid neophyte I'll be happy. :p

This is true...Bring on CCW and the rain :) No mostly I was concerned because its going to be my first day back this year and don't want any big challenges while I'm trying to pick my pace up again.

Excellent day. Helise and I both had a great time. Only issue was discovering a minor oil seep into my "dry" clutch basket at the end of the day. :? The joy of Ducati ownership I guess. The new bike is a blast on the track though.
