I used a similar one with a steel body and an aluminum track for my dirtbike for several years. It worked just fine on the back of my truck. I considered using it with my track bike a few times but was able to bum a trailer off a buddy. Mine was only rated for 400lbs but I think it would have been safe for my 600rr.
I do not think it would be suitable to use on a smaller car though. Too much weight behind the rear axle would take quite a bit of weight off the front of the car possibly making it unsafe.

I'm giving serious consideration to one of these on the back of the new Touareg. Tongue weight rating is 616lbs so my 400lb KLR should be ok.

I use one weekly. I have never used it for a track bike or street bike. I use it to haul my BMW G450x to and from the North GA fire roads, and to dirt bike parks Highland park, Whissenutt, and Durhamtown. I can truly say it has revolutionized my dirt bike riding. It is so easy to just load up and go, VRS hooking up trailer or ramps and the bed of my pick up truck. I probably go riding 50% more often just due to the ease of use. Again not sure I would ever carry a track bike or street bike on it, but mine is rated for 600lbs, and my G450x is wet weight of 285lbs. It works great for that

I have a dodge ram 2500 diesel, so weight is not an issue.

I would go steel and steel only... Look up Mototote... If your bike rocks back and forth use a bolt instead of a hitch pin and tighten the hell out of it.. No way I would use a aluminum one...

I have had a moto tote and Verahauler. Both are great but I like the Versahauler more. I have logged over 30k miles on both of them total.
