I think he is talking about a bicycle front brake lever. I am the same way if I don't swap them I keep hitting the rear lever.
Surprisingly I do not... It's like GP shift. Track and street are different environments. I ride other people bikes and don't want to grab a big handful of the wrong brake....
same i leave them normal, proly cause im used to using that hand for braking and using the rear brake on a pedal bike is usually way safe than the front, at least on the road
Last time I rode someone else's bike I bounced off three trees before I stopped on the trail and flipped them around. I don't do GP shift on the CBR because I don't want to get confused going back and forth between that and the dirty bike. In both cases if I devote some attention to them it's no big deal, but it seems when I get into an "emergency" situation some sort of muscle memory takes over.
I've never found much use for the front brake while riding XC or trail, so I leave my rear (primary) brake on the right side, with front brake on the left with my suspension lockout...
rear use my rear to slide the rear around on tight corners but all my braking is done with the front ps disk brakes on MTB are sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet
Re: rear I use my rear for such shenanigans, but use it for pretty much everything else as well. I've operated under the "front brake + dirt = bad things" philosophy for far too long to change it up now. Just pulled off my old 160mm disc brake setup and upgraded to an Avid 185mm setup. What a difference!
OK I've seen the light. A group of ppl. I ride with were pushing me pretty hard to start using front brake, so I tried it and instantly dropped 1:40 off my fastest time at a local trail. That's: front brake - 1, old misinformed habits - 0 Now I just have to flip my levers to make the transition complete...
I just got into Mtn. Biking and the 2nd thing I did was flip the brakes. The 1st thing being sliding into a stonewall grabbing a whole lot of nothing by squeezing the right lever.
My new 7" travel Cannondale Gemini http://www.cannondale.com/bikes/innovation/gemini/ was easy to flip the brakes. My last Cannondale, the master cyl would not let me flip. When the lift operator took my bike he asked who is the motocrosser? Now... how do I flip my new 450F to gp shift?
I just flipped the brakes on my Hardrock and I freakin love it. I wish I would have done it a long time ago. I am hoping the Doc is going to let me start riding trails again later this week.
