I ride scooters on the street. I get yelled at to slow it down on hosted I guess because I brake too hard. The Zuma only does 33 mph ;)

Thinking a track day will calm what "mad skills" I thought I had on the street.

I'm plenty okay with such. I have plenty to learn!

I still enjoy riding on the street. My initial intention in riding on track was to see how capable my bike was in a controlled environment and to work on body position at speed.

I enjoy "spirited" backroad and mountain riding. Doubt I'll ever refrain from doing so. Trackdays here are $200+, and then you factor travel and other expenses...

Sure it beats speeding tickets, etc. but riding on public roads is still enjoyable for me. :thumb:

Track brought me back to riding.

Gave up serious, regular street riding about 7 years ago after a white Thunderbird decided to play bowling with motorcycles. She was going 40mph and accelerating. I was stopped. :crutch:

Still a little shook up when throwing a leg over after all these years but the confidence is slowly coming back :thumb:

Bought my bike, rode it 8 times on the street. Did my first and second track days, and now suddenly I have track fairings and my stock fairings are for sale. I feel it's much more dangerous on the street, and just plain boring tbh. IMO

Depends on where you live. Places with "grid" layouts on the street are insanely boring. Live within riding distance to the twisties? Well, not so boring.

Virginia was a great place to ride. Mountain roads, Deal's Gap, and Cherohala Skyway all within driving distance. It's like a rider's heaven.

Grand Rapids? With a red light every 2 feet, potholes that would swallow a jumbo jet, and scary arse 94 year old drivers at every corner, it isn't nearly worth it.

Living in South Florida is dangerous enough even if you are a cager ! Dade & Broward counties are all grid roads most of the younger rider's test their skills on the interstate ramps ! The exits with the most curves are favoured ! I ride on Sundays only on the street very early to breakfast meet the boys & bench race then home by noon or earlier. To dangerous to be out later ! Even this is hairy as I have to use The Black Ribbon of Death (I-95) to return home ! Prefer track days ! Wish there were more !Prefer the north Ga. mountains and surrounding area !

Street 90% of the time still. Just back road fun.

I go in spurts. Several years I didn't touch the street other than a trip to Deals Gap. Now I'm back on street a fair amount since moving to North Carolina. Even the Inner Banks are better than any area in Florida where I lived for the last 6 years.

I can't afford the track this year, and bought a new bike, so therefore I ride the street. Quite a bit of commuting to save gas, and money. But this season is all about prepping for next, I have bought the bike, bought a nice enclosed trailer (and am renting it out to pay for it) and generally should have quite a bit saved for next year to get more than a few days on the track.

I miss the track, but will get back out there as soon as I can afford. Street riding until then!

I ride street. Next week will be my first time back in track since 07 I think. And will be my first time on two wheels on a track. Over done gingerman and that was in my old integra.

I'm hoping that riding track doesn't make me want to stop riding street. Even though I don't enjoy street riding as much as I did back in 04/05.

I'm downtown. Its treacherous. Almost every time I get on the thing I almost get hit or cut off. Have to be a very defensive driver down here.

That said, it sure is fun. And its much easier to park the bike than a car. When the wife and I go to dinner, we jump on the bike and I can squeeze that thing into a parking spot between two cars very close to our destination. Its nice for errand running too. Some aspects of my job have me running from location to location during the day, and the bike is super fun for that.

I did two tracks days end of last year. So this is only my first full season on the track. But I'll tell you what, as others have already mentioned, my street riding has calmed down immensely. No reason to ever push it fast or weave through traffic or be that jerk on the highway blasting his way around. I'm actually more sacred to do that on the street now than I was before I started riding on the track.

I was on LSD heading north by Navy Pier the other day for a joy ride. Its a beautiful drive. Downtown on your left, lake and sailboats and the pier on your right. Insanely beautiful women everywhere jogging or bicycle riding. Hot cars all over the place, Porsche, Audi, every once in a while you'll see a McLaren. Couple other bikes out there for a joy ride too. This little stretch of LSD even has a few 'twisties'. I'm enjoying the scenery taking it easy on my drive, and a CBR600 with no lights being driven by a dude with no helmet zips by me weaving in and out of traffic. Weaving hard, cutting folks off, zipping around like he was playing a video game. I was sooooo scared for the guy. In the past I would have said to myself, "wow cool he's so fast." But now I was genuinely terrified for the guy weaving through heavy traffic with NO LIGHTS and no helmet at top speed.

I still ride occasionally on the SV650. But track days ruined the fun of street riding for me.
Track days are like having sex with a porn star.
After that, everything else feels like you're kissing your mom.

After each track day (and I've only done a few) I swear off street riding for good! Then the car breaks down, or the first beautiful day of spring rolls around, or I get an opportunity for a road trip with some friends, and I go back out on the public roads. I can't pretend it's a surprise to me, because I always keep my bike licensed and insured. I don't think I'll ever really give up street riding, although it has definitely lost a lot of its thrill.

I did a 1500-mile road trip this year with Saxel and another guy. I was on the CBR - that was painful. I need an adventure bike.
