    Hi,
have newly painted race body work. Cleaned bugs off but still a lot of black rubber marks on it . (from rubber flying around i imagine).. how to clean w/o hurting body paint. -- soap and water not strong enough and I don't want to scratch with abrasive scrub pad.

I use "simple green" for the grease & rubber. Soft rag as applicator.

The best thing I have found is at Wal-Mart (and grocery stores). Its a citrus based cleaner called De-Solv-it and it works excellent!! http://www.de-solv-it.com/

I use GoJo wipes for bugs and rubber, they work great. They don't seem to do much for the adhesive from group stickers though.

WD40 is cheap, effective, and has so many other uses.

kerosone,, in spray bottle does the job, i cleaned 10 years worth of grease buildup off a bike,, and the rubber build, on the swingarm came rite off,, and with another spray bottle of water,, right after,, gets the job done
and at 5.50 a gallon,, its acutally cheaper than an degreaser,,,
just dont let it run down the drive way,,

wd40- spray it on a rag, great for breaking up decal residue..once soft wipe with a bit of rubbing alcohol.

Great info all. btw.. Whats 'Unfinished Paint' or better yet, whats 'Finished Paint'.. I just got body work painted back work from Painter.. How do I finish? e.g. Wax, or does it need time to wait . I want to do the WD-40 ASAP.. LOL..

Gasoline is known to haze many paint finishes immediately. All due respect to Tea but I'd stick with WD-40 or the Bike Spirits. That stuff (Bike Spirits) is magical. I've seen it cure glaucoma, halitosis and herpes.

Let your finish cure for 60-90 days before putting any kind of sealant (wax) on it.

    Ok,
I tried all of them. The only one that really really worked good was the Gunk non-clorinated break cleaner. I listed in order of effectiveness.. best at the bottom. Who knows. Maybe I left the rubber on too long.. but at least the brake cleaner is getting it. :amen:

    Original Bike Spirits
    WD-40
    GUNK Brake Cleaner
