  1. I'm pretty sure you and ryan are on the same page here, "play riding" is just a bit of vocab - I read it as "not competing or runing against a clock" or "out for fun not competition"

I know I consider it play time, if it wasn't fun I wouldn't be doing it...

  2. thanks for the insight bryan , yea i am stuck at the 33-34 -35 range and a little inconsistant in certain corners at mid o - time for some one on one to take it to the next level. the power race 4's i am using are not helping either.
but like monte said you can burn a heck of alot of laps on them. !.

to us if it's a trackday that is play riding - not trying to hurt feelings , but it is not race practice due to the wide variety of skill levels on the track at the same time .
even in the adv groups you see times from 30 -45+ that to me is play riding, not like at a raceday when the whole supersport class will be 131-135.
and of course sportbike class much faster.

would love to receive all the help we can get.
i know i can never learn enough !
this is sure diff from s/moto, and i love it.
the more seat time i get , i get more comfortable with the bike.
    yesterday was only my
    fifth day on a sportbike.

    thanks for the kind words

  3. also bryan you are right about the mx thing - i am currently an ama pro supermoto rider and trying to make the switch to RR.
i am going to try and ride the ama am event in sept in the expert class- but waiting on ok from ama due to currently holding a pro license.
they said we will have an answer this week.
if not i was told the ccs portion of the event will run one of their regular pro classes.

we are jumping in with both feet and are going to build a supersport bike over the winter for the 2010 season for the ama east supersport events.

Ouch . . . that had to hurt. Glad he is on the mend.

Looks like a tire and brake commercial. So much grip you'll go over board in joy.

Heal up, fix the bike, and get back out there.

As a (slow) AMA privateer for the past decade or so, I must have missed the part on how we make money . . .

    From the AMA website:

"Current AMA Pro Racing licensed riders are not eligible for any AMA RRGC event awards and the results will be adjusted acordiningly. This also applies to riders who held an AMA Pro Racing license for the years 2006, 2007 and 2008. Any rider that falls into the above criteria will be allowed to compete for CCS points and contingency only."

So, you can ride any expert class, but you won't be eligible for AMA points, trophies, etc.

Batey has never run an AMA Pro event, and Jensen hasn't for at least a few seasons. All make their money at WERA events chasing contingency money, which has dropped off significantly this year, btw.

Very little contingency money in AMA unless you're in the top 5, and -- at least until this year -- very little purse money. Purse money is better this year, but all the other costs (licensing, crew passes, vehicle passes, etc.) have all gone up to more than offset the small increase in purses.

Oh, and you have to finish in the top 20 to get any purse; something I wasn't very good at . . .

Speaking of Knapp -- very cool to see him doing so well this year, and snagging the Pole at VIR. I used to race against his dad.
