Slot cars that is. I been racing 1/24th scale slot cars here in Brooklyn NY at Buzz-A-Ramma. Next race is fri night Dec 4, we are racing sprint cars. I hope to make the main LOL, these guys take this stuff very seriously and are really secretive on how to mod their cars. I asked someone there if they ever heat the tires before a race and he just looked at me like i was an idiot. Its really funny tires cost a few hundred pennies a set not dollars.
OK....No one really cares about pretend car racing but its the off season and without funds to do trackdays in Australia Im going for it. Its my second race and after a slow start and very conservative driving in round one I decided to to step it up and take a crash or win attitude. My car cost a whole $40. and I would would hate to break something but screw it I need the WIN. Wish me Luck, I think they are paying $18 for a win.
Its official, I am now a professional slot car racer. Finished in 4th place and won $10. here are some videos of Buzzarama http://vimeo.com/4523829 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utHT4T8z2W4&feature=player_embedded
Nice job on the 4th place looks like a lot of fun!!!! when can we see an in car view gopro vid? O wait the camera is a little bigger!
I found anothr video on Buzz-a-rama http://briccommunitymedia.wordpress.com/2009/05/22/sector-b-buzz-o-rama-in-kensington/ check it out and if anyone wants to race come check it out. tracktime is about $10 an hour.
next race is feb 19th at Buzz-a-Ramma in Brooklyn NY. we are running nascar style bodies on flexi chassis with S16 motors. I built a whole car today for $50 bucks. come check it out.
Hey Kevin, You have any details on the racing tomorrow? There's a slight chance that I might come to the city tomorrow.
Lance- I am racing tonight at Buzz-a-rama starting around 7pm till around 10pm come by and check it out the address is 69 church st ,brooklyn. just off the F,G train stop at church. K
That's in my old neighborhood! I used to live @ Beverly & 8th, with my ex, only 8 blocks from there... sweet. I'm still not sure if I'm coming or not, but I'll text you if I do.
Link good luck tonite. Ckeckered or black flag. either way have fun relax and breathe!! O and stay hydrated!
Staying hydrated is good advice but it always makes me pee just before start time, just like bike racing? they say car racers lose 3-5 lbs during a race...slot car racers not so much but i have been training and strething all week and im ready to go.... I hear there will be 30+ guys trying to qualify for a 8 man main event so my goal is just to make the main and then create as much havoc as possible
Update Finished 6 out of 24, I should have finished higher up but my car was not tripping the lap counter in one of the heats. payout for 6 was $16.
uh oh... I've just found my local slot track http://www.mainlinehobbies.com/index.php?p=catalog&parent=2&pg=1 Kevin, you may have created a monster.
