plans for expansion at Beaver Run!!! http://pittsburgh.bizjournals.com/pittsburgh/stories/2006/08/14/story4.html
OF COURSE DUDE!!!! MORE RACETRACK IS ALWAYS BETTER!!!!!!!!!
That's really good news. In the first two years, It sounded like they were having some financial trouble. I think it wasn't till year three till we saw an electric light in the parking lot! According to that article, they're playing it smart with the police training revenue. The whole anti-race track crowd seems to have died down quite a bit as well. I spoke to one of the workers there a few years back who said the new course is suppose to very nice with a replica of Road Atlanta's Gravity Cavity. Even if it's just more of the same, it'll still be cool. I hope they can add a few more buildings and some seating for spectators so AMA will give it a shot.
I just found out a bit of bad news however... apparently, to get the permit to build the second track, they're not allowed to join them into a big gp style track, as of yet. perhaps in the future, but for now, no go... and probably no AMA, either.
I'll be there this weekend, I'll see if i can ferret out some more info on this. will post a report sunday evening or later monday. Lance
 Why not just join the North and South Track together , and repave the whole Darn thing that would potentially gfive you a 3+ mile track . Wouldnt that be cheaper then buillding a whole new track , or am I missing something here ( probably am )
That' s what the original plan was to do, joning the tracks. But now in order to get the permit to build the North track they can't connect it to the South Track.
I couldn't get to the article on my BlackBerry, I talked to the Track Manager's bro at GM the other week & he said their supposed to start clearing trees this Fall & break ground in the Spring. Could be rideable by July! Hadn't heard about not being able to connect the tracks though. That would be a damn shame. I did hear it's going to be a bit shorter than originally planned. I plan to introduce myself to the Track Manager this weekend, so I'll see what I can find out.
It seems my source (a director of another track club was) mistaken. I spoke to one of the members of BR and he refuted that claim. the two tracks will be joined! woo hoo! Lance
Lance, We happen to be shareholders in the facility... email me and I'll tell you what I can. The tracks WILL be able to be run seperately and as one big-ass track. We have revised Alan Wilsons original plan extensively (it will be safer to enter the new track.....) They are gonna shave the old Beaver to git rid of some bumps.... should be nice and smooth. Bigger Beaver = Better Beaver
Monte, I've got a copy of the Investor's Prospectus. I'll try to scan the images & post them for others to see. the new layout looks amazing and the BR investment recuiter that I spoke to (I can't recall his name, but he's about my size, maybe a little thinner- rides a ducati) said it will have considerable elevation changes and compared it to a european style track... I can't wait! if they could shave the bumps off the back straight, that would be super swell, too. ..
I talked to the same guy at the track with the big hat and sun glasses. the new lay out looks like fun. About shaving the back stright I wlaked the track friday night with the full moon and a flach light I laied the light on the track and all the bumps pop right up, also the track looked like it had been shaved before. I think there is a bigger problem that shaving will fix. Do you think shaving the track again will help?
The track settles for about 4 to 5 years so it should be pretty much done now. One additional shave could really help. Mike Milan was the guy recruiting investers. He's really a great person and a very good "friend" of the track.
