Y-E-S!!! Now if it would actually get cold and there was a place here in Michigan I would sooooooo do that. Seriously too. I don't have a dirt bike so I can't do it on that, but I do have an old set of take offs that I could stud. That actually looks cool!!!

Sheesh!! I feel like the only guy talking on this subject. Anyway, I've also got a friend I met on the Michigan.Sportsman forum (YUP, It's that hunter-fisherman in my blood too.) that's a really avid rider. I forwarded him that video that you put up on here and he was actually really geeked about it. He told me that he's going to go watch his supervisors friend from work go do some ice racing sometime in January. Looks like I'm going to get a chance to hang out in the pits and steal some setup information and advice!!! I'm definitely going to try and get into one for fun this year. Obviously I'm going to only go out when the ice is really thick and get a feel for the setup on a lake that allows me to get a feel for it first. Definitely sounds like some creative, nuts, fun way to fill in track time for now though. It might be a good rain practice scenario. :D Know what I mean.

Ice racing will make you faster on a road race machine for sure. It's fun as hell too.

Are you kidding me? No ice in MI????? People will drive their truck on to the lake to go ice fishing and you're afraid to take a piddly little motorcycle out??? Really! I think you aren't serious about this. If I wanted to do this here in eastern PA (about 40 miles north of Philadelphia) I could. I used to plow my parents pond so we could skate on it with our tractor using chains on the back tires and that tractor is much heavier than even my old 1994 YZF-750RF was.

No actually I was serious about this to the core. The reason that I said that is that I would want to get a feel for the ice first and actually last year I wouldn't even ice fish past Christmas. Everytime the ice would freeze it would get soft and thin again. I never even seen the lake by my house last year in Whitmore lake freeze over even once!!! It was freakishily warm. Yes, if we do have a normal winter the ice is thick as hell though. I've seen people drive there F-150's out on the lake before just to walk ten feet and set up there tip ups. Then they would just go back in there truck and relax in the cab until the flags would go up.

To get to what I was talking about at first though. Yes, I was dead serious about it, but I know absolutely nothing about properly setting up tires and I've never done it before as well. That's why I'm going to help out in the pits at one of my friends races and pick one of the guys heads. I don't feel you can get anymore serious than that. If it's cold enough this year and normal, rest assured I will be out there and I know that so that's all that matter. :p Oh, and yes I have fallen through the ice before and it's not always thick. I actually froze my a$% off when I was 12 because of that. No harm meant it's just my opinion though.

My youngest sister and her husband used to rent a house on Whitmore Lake. They're in Pinckney now. Several people I know in MI told me its not normal to be above 32?F in the winter up there. I hope its cold enough for you and have fun.

Yeah, I know it's not normally above that temp, but last year was a REALLY, REALLY WEIRD WINTER!!!! I wasn't trying to come across with a total Napolean complex there. I was just letting you know I was serious that's all. Hope all is cool. 8) Anyway, so where on Whitmore lake were they? It's a really small town and I'm just curious that's all.

I don't remember. It was about 5 years ago and I didn't visit them when they were there. All I recall is being told the house was built when oil was cheap so there was no insulation and a breeze would blow through the paper thin walls. I recall being 'just off 9 mile Road' though.

My sister told me about Hell too. I believe its about 2 miles from Pinckney?

Ok, I know the where abouts of where that is. It's actually a couple of miles north of the lake, but I know where it is. I actually got a speeding ticket off of 9 mile a couple of months ago on that road....Of course I took it to court and won though. :D :D ...Yeah, I know I'm shocked too. ...I've also been to Hell several times. There are actually some AWESOME BIKING ROADS THERE!!!! It's also really good deer hunting out there too. (Yep, I hunt for food. ) The only problem with the roads out there though is that they are Michigan roads. If you hit up Hankerd road it is a sportbikers dream road. It's got alot of elevation changes and a ton of sharp fun turns. The only thing though is it's Michigan roads(It's loaded with lets just say, not the smoothest pavement.), it goes through a State recreation area.(Lots of woods.), and there is a turn that's a hairpin. The only thing though is it's usually cover with some gravel!!!!  Still fun if you are careful though. Anyways, take care.
