Doing Sat/Sun only. Stephano & Burton are riding too. Sux about the pinched nerve. Hope you get better sooner rather than later.
Total Newbie - Lodgings over weekend? Hi Everyone. I'm new, and happy to be here. Hope to learn a lot and make new friends! Doing my very first track day over Memorial Weekend at ACC! Sat-Sun-Mon. I have a question. What do folks do about lodging? Recommendations would be much appreciated. Thanks!!!
Some people camp onsite, but there are also plenty of hotels in the Joliet area. Here's the ACC link w/ their discounts: http://www.autobahncc.com/Information.html
Hi and welcome to the addiction! :cheer: You're gonna have a great time! So, I'd recommend camping at the track especially if you are new to the whole track day experience. This way, you are already there at the track with out the feeling of having to rush to get you, your gear and your equipment at the track on time, then having to set it up once you arrive. If you camp, you can do this the day before (Friday) and then Saturday morning, all you have to do is wake up and go to registration and tech inspection with your bike. ACC has nice amenities like showers which makes camping more comfortable. The gates should be open by 7 PM on Friday. Let me know if you have questions and have fun!
How about if I bring some melons... No seriously, how about if I bring a watermellon and canlope? Thanks, Nick
Camping out at ACC You recommend camping, huh? Okay... I think I may try that. I suppose it'll give me more time get my bearings once I'm there. Nervous but excited! If anyone's got any more tips on logistics of camping, food/meals, etc, that'd be great! I am hauling my bike over to the track using my car and trailer, btw. Dunno if that makes any difference. Thanks for any tips/recommendations for a newbie at the track!
What's up Nick! I haven't seen you since.... Last Memorial Day weekend?????? How've you been buddy? I'll have to seek you out next weekend.
:welcome: If you prefer a hotel/motel, there are a bunch off the Larkin St and Houbolt Rd exit on I 80...20-30 mins to ACC. ACC does have a half descent food stand. Don't know if they serve breakfast too. Bring some snacks and plenty of beverages to keep your energy up and stay hydrated. Don't know what the weather will be like....sorry, I mean it will be sunny and dry...so having a canopy is a plus. Bring a folding chair too. There is a section in the STT forum that goes over TrackDay List you should read before coming. There will be plenty of guys and gals there who can help you too...just ask! Speaking of asking...always ask questions if you have one...on track or off track questions. We all went thru the same steps as you when we started this addiction. You'll have some of the best coaches in the industry to ask your questions. Most important of all...have fun!!!:bannana:
As kerlyb said, be sure to stock up on beverages. Lots and lots and lots of bottled water, and start your hydration therapy a few days before the weekend. You'll feel better for it, and that means you'll have more fun!
Welcome to the new addiction!!!!! And Owen and a few others I think covered everything. You can camp, a lot of people do. There are showers there and they are pretty nice. Lots of liquids and snacks and such. I think most people snack during the day just to keep their energy. Most of us hang around after the track day and grill and stuff. Sunday will be a big BBQ and lots of activities. That would be wonderful!!! :thumb:
Updated list! Shelly - Brownies, pasta salad Bogdan - Mici (cevapi), garlic dip Steve/Tea - Sumon, onions PacMan - BBQ Sausage & bread (Somun) Juicebox - Veggies & dip vickisboytoy - Pecan pies, adult gummi bears and jello shots fplcman - Cabbage & chicken salad JimPaine1 - Potato Salad & Coleslaw Ninjeff - Cupcakes nickboogie - Watermelon & Canteloupe
I probably wouldn't get there until Sunday but I'll bring a couple of bags of chips. Also, does anyone know if there will someone tuning suspension?????
Bring a canopy and some folding chairs and a cooler full of cold drinks. A spare can of gasoline, besides filling the bike before you come to the track. Sunblock. Extra towels. Double or triple up on underwear and socks. Sweat or rain, nobody likes having to wear damp undies. Snack foods. Beyond this, you can borrow anything you forgot. You won't believe how friendly everyone is. No matter where you set up, you'll be adopted by your neighbors and if you camp, there's a communal atmosphere among those who sleep at the track. Our rig is a large red trailer with TrackdayMag.com on the side and a bunch of bikes. We set up along the north paddock fence. Stop by if you need anything or just to say high. Most of my group is staff and we're all willing to help!
Hey Beth, do you need us to bring anything from St. Louis we should be rolling in at a decent time on Friday since I just got the word from work that Friday is optional and NO work on Monday :amen::cheer:
