Ferrari Formula One legend Michael Schumacher has shown he is no slouch on two wheels today in Valencia with an incredible performance on Casey Stoner’s world championship-winning factory Ducati. Seven-times Formula One world champion Schumacher has clocked an incredible best lap of 1.37.89 in a special guest ride on Stoner’s GP7. That time is just a fraction over five seconds outside of Dani Pedrosa’s new lap record, which the Spaniard set in winning the Valencia GP yesterday. Repsol Honda rider Pedrosa’s new lap record in the 30-lap race was a 1.32.748. I read about that the other day on Superbikeplanet. Amazing stuff! I'd be curious to know what his previous riding experience is, because that is a blistering pace for ANY [non-motoGP] rider...
Like many have said before "fast is fast." Don't forget, he comes from a world that makes motorcycle G forces seem mild in comparison, so things like judging entry speed while braking wouldn't be a problem for him like it would be for a bike rider to adjust to F1 braking. Traction control has also made corner exits much more like what he is used to. Great performance though.
Schumacher is also an avid motorcyclist so this isn't that different from what we do. There are some among us who could do something similar. I agree with Mike and was thinking similarly, he's used to speed so its not such a big adjustment for him. Rossi was closer in lap time in the Ferrari. Not that it means anything.
