Looking for some imput from you FAST guys on how these slicks work?
Traction/durability, i.e. how many days on a 600 not liter size bike.

    Thanks!!!

I ride this combo on my 06 R6 and love em. The front profile makes turn in easy and they wear like iron if you pay attention to them.

TRaction is not an issue once they are heated. If you are using warmers this is taken care of, if not, use a little discretion on your out lap and then ride on. FWIW, Monte has used them on his 636 w/ out warmers and gotten MANY days out of them. and he is not known for his restraint on an out lap!

I generally get two rears out of a front tire, and a rear is good for a few days if i am pushing hard all day. Can you go through one sooner? Yes, and some can get them to last longer too.

I also even out wear by flipping the tire around if one side is wearing faster from a track like Grattan w/ majority right turns

You will love them!! Well worth the extra $10 - $20 over the PR DOT Series.

Mounted a set at Autobahn yesterday and LOVE THEM, had major grip, couldn't tell much difference on the carcase stiffness, but just felt i had tons of grip. Steered a little slow/heavy but i didn't adjust ride height, came off Diablo Super Corsas.

    Thanks Monte!!

Glad to hear you had success with the 1200/1800 combo. I am also looking to run these tires for trackdays on 08. I ride a 600rr, and I will not be using warmers. Do you use warmers? About how many days did you get out of a set this season? Thanks for the help!

I do not think you want to run these tires without warmers. Life of the tire is all based on riding style and bike. Some can get a tire to last longer than others while others eat them up. But the 1200/1800 last a pretty long time. As I stated previously well worth the money but not without warmers.

However, you may want to check with Monte. I believe I heard these tires were being discountinued or something to that effect.

Actually, these tires work very well with or without warmers. I started running them a few years ago, and the reason I chose these particular tires was because Monte specifically stated that they would work well even without warmers, given proper warm-up time of course (1-2 laps min.). He was right-on. I never had an issue as long as I took it easy the first lap or two, and the tires felt great.

I'm not sure if it's my riding style or what, but they did tend to wear rather quickly depending on the track. They could last as long as 5 full days or as little as 2-3 days. For me, Beaverun was particularly problematic as I'd wear the right side off the tire in 2 days. As mentioned before, riding style has something to do with it, so take my experienced tire longevity with a grain of salt...

This past year I ran the Power Race tires, and found them to be every bit as good as the Pilot slicks, and they seemed to wear a bit better as well. Maybe consider them as an alternative. Or you can always fall back on the Michelin Pilot Power or Pilot Power 2ct. I am ALWAYS amazed with how well those tires perform no matter what I throw at them. I'm not the fastest guy in the world, but I have tested them on occasion and they have performed flawlessly every time. I keep a set of Powers mounted on extra rims at each track day just in case...

Looks like Nicks post above explains well enough on these slicks. The one thing i've really learned this year is to take any tire info w/a 'grain of salt', it really depends on the skill level of the rider and then what bike. I was at Barber in Oct and overheard the tire mounting guys remark how the 1200 front lasted a LONG time, and these guys are very quick riders, so thats a really big positive i think. I'm sure one wouldn't need to use warmers on these tires but like previously warned, take it easy for 1-2 laps. I truly believe that for any intermediate or below rider that the Pilot Power (&2CT's) are perfectly fine, or equivilant mfg. And to see 2-3 days on a set of these is reasonable.
    Good luck!
