cool video...you looked great. (good music selection on the last song, btw) makes me really look forward to riding that track in a couple weeks.
Next time you see Super Dave Rosno ask him how fast Mitch Boehm is... Catterson is fast. He can hang with Kent and Andrew from "Sport Rider", and as a point of information Kent was AFM 250GP champion just a few years back. Carrithers is heavily conflicted at a lot of levels. I have seen him go really well, but not at Barber. Schwantz is more competitive today than he was when he raced GPs. He won't even let you get to that basket of biscuits AT ALL. I am old and slow, turn 42s at Barber. Mitch can beat me like a rented mule. Of course, I don't spend anything like as much time at the track as any of those guys. It's funny. I spoke with Mitch about all this and he just laughed. I think he will be coming to the STT event at Barber 3/18-19. I'll be there too. There is a slim possibility that Mitch will bring another really famous semi-retired racer with him. Hope to see you all there...it has been a long, cold winter here in Northern Virginia.
...Jack Seaver. I wrote the "Megaphone" piece in the Feb issue about Barber. Been racing with Mitch, Kent, Brian, Andrew and the guys since '95.
excellent. really looking forward to seeing you guys there. any clues as to who the secret retired racer may be?
I am bound to secrecy...but Daytona 200 winner should narrow it down a little! Nothing is etched in stone at this point, but don't be too surprised when it happens. Could also possibly have a whole collection of interesting hardware for evaluation, but again, the situation is a little too fluid at this point to spread the word. I know this much: I'm gonna be there, Mitch is gonna be there, and beyond that it ranges from mild to wack. Anyway, it'll be really good to get back out on the track...I'll bet winter is still in force up in Michigan, huh? I'm trying out a new slipper clutch from Fred Renz at Yoyodyne in an attempt to confirm or deny that old saw about old dogs and new tricks. I doubt that it's gonna make me any faster, probably just a little less unruly on the brakes. But who knows? Cabin fever runs rampant...
Fred treated me pretty good . Purchased a slipper from him last year .Your gonna like it . What bike ?
'04 RC51 with a few mods. Okay, I checked every box with Dan Kyle and got wheels and bodywork from Fred.
yes. michigan sucks around this time of year....it's a lesson in patience. back the the 'special guest...'...and i know you said maybe......so...... it's narrowed down to these guys.....right? mladin duhamel hayden russell lawson sadowski ashmead schwantz rainey spencer roberts crosby singleton pons baker cecotto romero agostini saarinen emde mann rayborn nixon elmore reiman andres leonard gibson hill goldsmith klamfoth mathews spiegelhoff tancrede campanale kretz
Wheels too sheez !!!! Read the instructions on the slipper . Fred gets annoyed when racers just put the thing on .
You know, I read it really carefully. I followed the directions exactly. I really did. But in the case of the RC51 slipper (anti-hopping) clutch it was so simple I had to go back and re-read the whole thing because it seemed TOO easy!. I looked at the instructions for some of the Ducati stuff, and that looked way more involved. The RC51 thing pretty much goes: take out the old, put in the new. Lather, rinse, repeat. Hell, the hardest part turned out to be finding a 30mm 12-point 1/2" drive socket!
Thank you, thank you, thank you & what a great pleasure it is to be here with all you fine people.
Still keeping them in the house eh Mike? I should drop in over at Rogue, haven't been there in awhile.
Scott Ru$$ell! Wish I could be there. He was one of my guesses for the second special guest at Jennings a couple of years ago when Colin Edwards was there. Certainly wasn't disappointed when it turned out to be Jamie James though.
