I was wondering what kind of gear you guys wear while riding the trails? I have just been wearing gym shorts and a tshirt along with a pair of Nikes. I had a foot slip off of the pedal and caused some pain to the lower region(nice big bruise). So I am looking into a pair of MTB shorts that wont get caught on the seat. Along with a shirt and some grippy shoes.

My apparel selection closely mirrors that of Mr. Healea (though I always call him first to make sure we don't show up at the trailhead matching ).

As for the pedals, have a look at these: https://www.performancebike.com/web...duct_10052_10551_1033468_-1_36000_20000_36006

I run them and love them because they let me ride platform when I want, and clipped in when I want. I haven't quite committed to riding clipped in, so I mostly use the platform side which provide tons of grip. When I do want to practice clipped in, I have the other side with adjustable clip tension so I can tune to my liking.

My shoes are much the same. They are Pearl Izumi X-alp mid: http://www.rei.com/product/783154?c...ferralID=e616b974-6bd0-11de-9c1b-000423bb4e79

They came with cleats, but work great without as well. Again, the best of both worlds.

I always ride with glasses as well. I have dark tint glasses for bright daytime riding, and I have a few pairs with interchangeable lenses for changing light conditions. I normally just buy what's on sale and fits properly b/c they will eventually break or get dropped and scratched (always polarized b/c it cuts down on glare from water, etc.). I keep the more expensive specs in the car for driving. Nashbar usually has killer deals on closeout sunglasses...

I have been wearing a normal bike helmet but I am thinking I need a BMX style. Because I seem to wreck atleast once eveytime I am out. I don't want to go to clips as far as pedals because I would probably be pretty end up messed up it I did. As far as eye protection I am limited because I wear glasses all the time. I just try and dodge branches when I can

Do you guys know of any places with good deals. I have been looking on price point and them seem to be pretty reasonable.

Re: I wear Beans and Franks that show off my huge package

I wear bib tights mostly and a short or 3/4 jersey.

I wear clipless shoes and they come in REALLY handy when I'm crashing off the teter-totter at Alum with Healea!!

Good helmet and I like glasses that are not to dark... iIuse rose tint as it allows me to see well in all light conditions. I use very lightweight gloves (SixSixOne) that last about six months max.

I finally picked up a few things.
    1. Hoss Ponderosa shorts
    2. Champion moisture wicking shirt
    3. A good pair of DC skate shoes(that I love)

I already have a helmet and a set of fieldsheer golves. I think I am going to look into a full face helmet. Seeing how I love to fly over the handle bars.

Thanks again Monte and Brian for a great day @ Mid-Ohio on the 16th. I was the guy riding the Buell 1125r. It was cool being set up on pit lane and seeing all the pros.

I like the shorts alot. They seem to be holding up well and the padding is pretty good. I am glad I bought them instead of the $100 shorts at the local bike shop.
