My scary moment at Atlanta Motorsports Park 4-20-2013 Thought you guys might get a kick out of this. Iwas on my 03 Z1000 in turn 6. It happens at about 35 seconds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2DvS8g0p28
same thing happened to me turn 15 at heartland yesterday .. scary moment but saved by the foot as well after i ran up on the stripes trying to avoid 2 bumps on the race line left by the cars during their track day ... ill post video up on here from my buddy that was following w/ his GoPro when he posts it on youtube
Rear brake lever grabbed the track. (it was bent out at 90 degrees afterwards and i had to beat it back straight.
Dave, pleas take this with the best of intentions. I have watched all the video's you have posted to date. Please get with a coach and have them help you before you hurt yourself or someone else.
I have offered free track day to any coach who would join me multiple times. I know you guys dont like AMP, but who on hear has actually been there? Come ride with me Steve P!! I'm begging for some instruction. It will just be me a coach and maybe one of my friends. Free of charge. Just show up. I will even buy your lunch Opie Caylor has semi committed to spending a day with me, but I have to see it to believe it. Any coaches out there ?????????
Here is a video of me if anyone missed the other thread. Ridicule is welcome. I know i have some shady lines in some of these turns. Part of it is inexperience and part of it is me trying to get up enough steam to pass the CBR1000 without being a dick. He randomly showed up and went out on the track with us. Didnt even speak to him until after this session. Turned out to be a cool dude. Jimmy Stuart anyone know him? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0HmHO36ET0
Dave, I live up by Chicago. There are several qualified coaches in your area to help ya. Opie would be great if you could get him. The biggest thing I see is you need to smooth things out.......a lot. Everything from upshifting, downshifting, breaking,.....everything. Slow down and work on some fundamentals and it will pay huge dividends, I promise. If you ever come up north to hit a new track, let me know, I would love to help you.
That's one of the nice things about an STT event - you get instructors to help you - not only to help you ride better and faster, but safer - and evaluate your riding before something does happen where you crash. Obviously all crashes cannot be prevented - but I'd like to think we keep it to a minimum. I would also second Steve's opinion that if you keep riding in the fashion that you are now, you will have a crash. It's not a matter of if, but when. Hey, if you can get Opie to coach you, great - it doesn't get much better than that - he's top notch. In regards to AMP, yes, I have been there and been around the track - and I think it's a great layout - I don't think you'll find anyone here that hates it. I would be interested to ride the track, however, that invitation has never been extended to me. In any case.... if I were you, I'd dial it back a notch and work on smoothness and fundamentals. The fact that you are touching hard parts is a first indication that your body position is way off. Book some time with a trackday org - STT, NESBA, etc..... any of them, and go out and ride with some coaches - your riding will improve in a day more than you could possibly know... and most importantly - you'll walk away with a shiny bike you can ride again. t
Just get off the bike more and keep it more straight up than leaned over... More contact patch and less hard parts... Watch MarcMarquez ride.. You wil get the idea...
You want access to a great coaching staff, you need to attend a STT day. Our coaching staff is dedicated to working those events for many reasons. Others here may like to ride AMP; however, I will never turn a wheel on it. This sport is dangerous enough without amplifying the risks at a track not designed for motorcycles.
