They probably helped the hand slide in the event of an off and reduce injury to the bones. But one can imagine what injuries could have arose depending on the placement and number of rivets... Anyone have a picture of these gloves??
I now hate you all, lol. My Helds that I purchased on closeout in 2009 have some rivets on the heel of the palm. Obviously not as good as the ones now with the Knox sliders but the same idea. Hey these gloves have been the best I've owned in terms of quality though and they still feel great after 4 years of use! I can forgive them for the rivets I guess considering the quality of the rest of the construction. Damn, wearing gloves with rivets and a suit with no aero hump means I'm missing my calling in AHRMA racing! :jester:
Here you go. And yes I'll be wearing them at Putnam this weekend. There are so many more things I could be laughed at for so I don't really care what anybody has to say about it :rawk:
LOL but your gloves are HELD!!!!! my ole helds were only warm, waterproof and had a visor wiper. no armor :lmao:
No man, those are all good and like a 18th generation rivet glove. I'm talking gen 1 type of stuff back in the early 90's. I did a brief google search but couldn't find anything period correct. Then again, I'm not very good on the puter.
That seems like such an insane solution to me. Metal + friction = heat + skin = how are these better? That seems crazy that this was the direction just a few years ago and it took this long for someone to say "hey, lets use plastic!"
The rivets don't contact the skin at all. There is a lot of padding there plus the kangaroo leather (the gray leather) is one continuous piece underneath that. Hey, can you honestly look at the knox handroids now and not think that we'll be looking back at those in 10 years laughing?
Well they seem to make more sense than metal rivets. But i get what you're driving at. My snap response is that i dont know what would be better than the knox stuff....but i guess 10 years ago no one knew what would be better than metal rivets.
Those were the absolute shiznit. Talk about old school. Wow, how far we have come. They were much better than the one I wore in high school. Typical fingerless super thin cruzer goat skins.
