got the disc. THANKS! watched both your races, too. leading flag to flag in the first one. nice! and nice race in the last one. nice pass going into t3. don't worry about him passing you back on last lap. cummins doesn't belong in novice racing. he's been racing and winning at grattan for at LEAST five years that i can remember. maybe more. you raced well. congrats.
NP Jig, I sent the other stuff because of our conversation about braking at the end of the day. That last lap I messed up braking into T1 there was a big pole up on the right and I would catch it out of the corner of my eye from time to time and brake to soon. I'll take any pointers ya got
brake later i do have to figure out what you're doing in t7. in the video where you're behind me...it seemed you always gain about 6 quick feet on me right at that apex (right hander before the bowl) oh, and i just looked up rob cummins. in his 27 races since 2005 (mostly all at grattan): - he was on the podium for 22 of them - and won 16 of them time to move up to expert, there, chief.
ya think....LOL can't wait till April. I need some work done on my street R1 do you know any good local (Michigan-Oakland, Macomb) mechanics?
clutch replacement (just plates) Valve adjustment, fork oil change, chain and sprockets. I can do the clutches, but I don't have a chain tool I forks make me nervous.
yeah, clutch stuff you just do yourself. only thing that gets tricky is putting the lever thingy back in correctly. how old is your fork oil? stock internals? if it's stock and not really old, i wouldn't change it. the guy i send all my suspension stuff to is matt carr at indy ducati. other options for actual suspension tuning are traxxion dynamic, or thermosman. if it's just a fluid change, ken from superbike italia, or some other local guy could be found searching on here or the wera bbs. and just buy a chain tool from motion pro or your local bike shop. you'll use it a bunch, and it doesn't cost much. you'll need a grinder, which can be had at harbor freight for a couple snickers bars.
I have the grinder and stuff. It is a 2005 R1 with 26,500 miles I am the original owner. The valves are most important. The bike is starting to sound like a sewing machine.
For fork/suspension work local to you I would go to Tech Care (they are part of Dave Bowmans) on M59 in Waterford.
You could always do what Jig does when it's time to check the valves.......sell it and let someone else worry about it.
Go to : Nick & Neil's Pro Powersports 299 Industrial Park Drive, Belleville, MI 48111-4942 (734) 699-1180 Ask for Nick and tell him I sent ya. PS .... Dude ... You never call anymore (sniff sniff).
