I have 4 mounting positions on my bike, rear tail (I use this 80% of the time) front fairing center (15% of time) top of Tank and mirror mount (combine 5%). For this past year I only used the tail mount and I used drain plug wire to connect go pro to bike. For next year I want/need a more elegant solution so I can move the camera around. I actually have three connectors and three housing, so I guess it is possible to set one housing up for each location, i.e. dedicated tethering. The just move the camera itself between the encloses. I was just wondering what other solutions, hopefully better than mine, others have come up with . Pictures and descriptions of how you move it around the bike would be helpful.
We used a zip tie between two safety wire loops. I drilled a very small hole through the part of the clear gopro case the attaches to the black mounting piece. I then made a safety wire loop there. Then in close proximity to any mounting location I put another safety wire loop. When the gopro was in a particular location, we loop a zip tie between the two safety wire loops. Maybe not the most elegant but it was cheap, easy, and effective.
Mine is similar. so you cut the zip tie anytime you needed to move the camera, basically my set up is the same. I was thinking by now there might be some elegant solutions, but some times, simple is the most elegant. thank you.
If you set your safety wire loops the same distance apart for all mounting points, you can use something like a split key ring for easy removal and re-attachment of the gopro. It's also more sturdy than a zip tie. I don't have any pictures handy, but I can snag one later, if you want.
I shot a picture of how I have my go pro tethered. I am sure there are better ways of doing it, but this has enabled me to move the camera in multiple spots on the bike.

This is good to know. I didn't realize it had to be secured to the actual casing. I don't use the camera much, but when I do, I would like it to be within the rules of STT. Either way, thanks for pointing that out. Now I would be interested in how others are securing to the case itself.
I safety wire around the metal pin that is the hinge for the back door of the case. There's a gap and the wire slips through nicely.
I've drilled the rear and the bottom of the case, and wire it with a clip to the mirror eliminator bolt.
thanks for all the pictures. I am glad I read all the comments. I really liked the first picture post with the hole drilled into the screw. I guess the last picture with the hole into the casing is the way to go.
