Was talking to the Michelien guy at RA May 1st, it was 50ish deg out and COLD, 30 front 22 rear on the sv he tells me...sooo ya it works, and per the above even the guys that work for the tire company will tell you less than 24 in the rear (track was maybe 60 degrees.....probably more like 50 degrees....)
ahhh thats pretty cold i would of dont it i figure around this time of year morning temp riding at 9:00am is normall around 60's maybe low 70's and 24 has always been my starting point!
and adult beverage? They're talking cold and hot temps, when the tire heats up, the pressure increases. Some folks use this as a guage to see if their pressure was set correctly cold. And some just plain ol' check hot temps, not cold ones. Different manufacurers use different methods of checking pressures. It all comes down to personal pref. Lots of factors involved.
the michelin trackside guys at the WERA events told me to shoot for about a 5 psi increase coming off the track from my cold temp pressures
yeah, but that would be ASAP on pit road. I dont check them until I get to my pit area, so I shoot for 3-4 psi hot growth
The best way to set pressures is by targeting a temp. The Power Race tires seem to work best when they are 150-160 deg when coming off the track. If yours aren't getting that hot drop the pres. If they are getting hotter (unlikely) add pres. I have run the rears at 18psi hot on a 55 deg day to get it to run at 150 deg. I know it sounds crazy but the tire doesn't care what the pres. is, it cares what the temp is though.
