I'm doing the STT weekend at Carolina Motorsports Park over Thanksgiving weekend (Novice), and the lowest octane fuel they sell is 100. Although it's expensive, I don't mind buying it if it's o.k. to use (convenience factor).

I have only done one track event so far (Gingerman), and they sold 93 octane at the track. I filled up in the morning (about $10-11), and it lasted all day. Worked great for me.

Would 100 octang fuel cause damage/poor running to a bike that runs fine on 93 octane (an air-cooled 2-valve 50-ish horsepower inline-4)? The only mods performance-wise are a V&H full exhaust, K&N air filter, and carbs that have been tinkered with.

If I need to/should bring my own, what do you recommend for a gas can? It would need to seal tightly, so the inside of my 4runner doesn't smell for months afterwards. (I don't have a trailer yet -- maybe in 2009, when I upgrade my bike.)

    Thanks in advance!

I wouldnt use it either. The money u sace u can buy a 5 gallon race fuel jug and just run 93. Had a friend put 110 in a bike rated for 87 and it fouled the plugs out.

Thanks to all! I bought a 5-gallon gas can over the weekend. It cost me about $8.
