What would be my best choice for a racing class to get my 08 race license. I live in Indianapolis and was trying to plan for next year but info at this time seems to be limited. Any help would be great.

i belive the fastrax racing school will cost you around $300 but like brian said it is defenetly a more relaxed racing venue with a lot of great talented riders without all the egos of some of the riders in wera or ccs(not meaning you brian).i guess it all depends on how far you want to go with your racing.at fastrax we are semi respectful of one another on the track and all want to be able to walk in to work on monday in one pice lol.you can go to fastone.com for more info if you like good luck too you...........wayne

For what its worth, getting your WERA license involves taking a rider's school as well as two weekends as a "provisional novice". STT's PRO schools will satisfy the rider school requirement and give you a Cert for your prov. nov. license.

Once you are licensed in one Org. the others will generally accept that as certification for their own licensing requirements.

I also am in the throes of the meatgrinder class. It is a little hairy going into T1 w/ 30 novice 600 riders sometimes, but there is great competition.

Like Wayne said, FASTRAXX is a great organization that puts the spirit of competition back into racing. A great organization w/ great people... except Wayne ... he's a little goofy.

Don't forget the Team Chicago School that's held at Grattan the first weekend of april. the cost is usually around $35, but the weather can be dicey. The weekend I took it, the temps ranged from 30-50; last year I believe it snowed. still, it's a good deal.

I don't know the WERA class structure well enough, but with CCS, if you ride a 600, you could enter the heavyweight or unlimited classes, which tend to be smaller and less meat-grindery, and at small tracks like Blackhawk, you can actually do ok on a 600 against the big bikes.

To get a CCS license in the Midwest, you take a $175 Learning Curves class on Saturday, and you can race on Sunday. A license is $115 before June and the price goes down a little bit after that.

    Their website is: http://www.ccsracing.us/

We race with them because most of the Midwest schedule is within 2 hours of where we live, so it's way more convenient than anyone else.

I'm taking the STT Pro school on May 16th, WERA runs that weekend. If I get my certification for a provisional license, would I be allowed to race that weekend?

Ideally, I'm thinking of "hanging out" for the weekend just to get a feel for what goes on at a race and meet some people.

    Thanks

Yes, you can take the pro school on Friday, then fill out paperwork on Saturday morning for your Prov. Nov. License... assuming you dont do anything crazy on friday!

Usually, you get a Cert, but even if not, you will have plenty of STT staff members there to vouch for you.

    Justin,

Thanks for the reply. It's great to know the STT staff will vouch for me if needed. That's the reason I ride with STT, the entire organization always goes above and beyond all expectations!

And I completely hear ya on getting too crazy on Friday! I'll put a sticky note on the inside of my face shield reading: "don't wad the bike, don't wad the bike"!

    Thanks

I just noticed you are on a 600... so i have to edit my statement: I will vouch for you, unless you are faster than me and enter the same races... then i dont have any idea who you are or if you took the school

Only kidding of course, we love getting more people into the sport. As for friday... dont worry, we will remind you PLENTY!!!

Try not to do anything too crazy on Saturday either. Some of us have had our expectations abruptly lowered on occasion. And keep those cheater 600s out of the 750 races.

I would be happy to! Just need to come to more midwest events! I am afraid it still wont help though...

Besides, i have a great advantage that allows me to keep up w/ the fast old F-ers like Dennis! He woulda beat me for sure last year if he hadnt had such bad luck! Gonna have to pull a plug wire on him this year.
