Does either STT or Road America run an AMB transponder system at the track days there? I have my own, and was just wondering if it will be of any use there. I noticed on MyLaps, that STT had a track day weekend somewhere else (I think it was Autobahn if I recall) where they posted lap times using that system.

I don't believe STT officially sets up a beacon for lap times. Some other riders, or a vendor may have a sending unit that they can setup on the pit wall. Just need to be sure that 2 don't get setup. With the advent of GPS lap timers, its never a given that a transmitter will be setup. You may want to find one to have your own if you want to ensure you have one in the future.

I think you're confusing what I said with the old school lap timers that use an IR beacon. I'm talking about the AMB type transponders (which are used in most racing organizations to track everyone's lap times), which run on RFID as far as I know, hence they all have a unique ID number on them. Some track day organizers use this system even for track days and people can rent them or bring their own.
