Using my first set and love them. My one ? is that the sides are severly wrinkled is this normal wear? I could pick the rubber chunks off the sides of the tires. Was wondering if I need to have the suspension looked at again as it has already been set up for me when I was on Power Races at the beginning of the year. Thanks for any help.

Sounds like you might want to slow the rebound down a bit, but without pics and/or a more detailed description, it's hard to say...

Are you using tire warmers? That sounds possibly like a cold tear. Also, I would look into getting the suspension set for those tires. There is a difference between tires, like the circumference which may be changing the geometry of the chassis.

Here are some pics of the tires

The tire looks worse in person than in the pics - thanks for the help.

Add in a couple clicks of rebound. Don't go crazy, just 2 or 3 clicks and adjust from there. Looks like your shock is fighting your bike. If you slow the rebound a bit, it should help the problem.

What are you using for tire pressures?

I started with 30 psi cold pres. Tried 29 cold pres last track day without any change. This is front and back pres. Slicks are the 1200/1800 combo. Should I try going lower? Bike is a 2006 GSXR750,Myself 6.0 ft 185 lbs, front forks have been re-sprung and revalved for my weight the rear shock is stk but is fully adj and has been done by a profesional. Sport bike Italia. The problem is that he is not at every event that im at due to it being his busy time of year. When I lean the bike I can feel the ruffness in the the tread (vibration). Going straight no issues. Bearings have been checked. Bike has 2000 miles on her. All maint is up to date. Thanks again.

Realizing you have probably tried the above sugestions as far as suspension.

This type of tire wear can occur due to the tire spinning up quickly due to loss of traction.

If you have tried increasing your corner speed and proper throttle modulation, try dropping your cold pressures so that your hot pressure stays around 31/32. I start the days at 28 rear cold. You may have to bleed of some air once you check your hot pressure.

    Good luck.

I had the same problems July 28th with the front looking just as bad. Like you said pictures look better than they actually are. I used tire warmers and checked tire pressure 31/30.
I switched to Bridgestone and all my trouble vanished

Thanks for all the info. Brian I will keep up on the notes. My issue was when I was on Pilot Powers PR4 rear and meduim front they wore perfectly. All I did was change to a full slicks so I didnt think it would change my suspension setting that much but I was wrong. I rode today and tried some air pres and adj only to have the tire completely go away. The rubber balls on the edge of my tire looks like marbles that big. I was tearing the tire apart not sure what to do as the bike was scarry to ride. Several people saw the tire and told me it was well beyond repair and to change it. I went back to a Power Race and the problem so far is gone. My bike was originaly set up for Power Races at the beginning of the year. So atleast for my bike ive learned to stay with what its was set up for and if u do change brands or compounds you have to reset the suspension like Brian and others have said. Thanks again for all the help.
