First off, I am a huge mladin fan and share a house with a huge spies fan...so I may be subjective; however, I think ben should have landed a GP bike of any quality if he wants to join the ranks of Rossi and friends. The Yamaha bike may allow him entry 2 years from now when Colin decides to leave, but then you have a 25(or 27) year old ben attempting to get a seat in a potentially stronger 250 graduating (younger)class. Have I lost my mind?
The WSB field is MUCH more competitive than MotoGP- there's really no telling who'll win any given race. How he does there is a better gauge of his ability (which is rather prodigious) and will better prepare him for Moto GP, especially considering that he's not ridden most of the tracks that the WSB circus visits. I look forward to watching him next year. Lance
Honestly, if I was Ben, I'd be happier to be in WSBK, where the best riders and the best racing is, than in GP, where you're basically hosed if you're not on the primary factory bike of any team. And more to the point, if you're not Stoner or Rossi.
+1 With new bikes from BMW and Aprilla (KTM yet or 2010?) many riders jumping to new rides and a bunch of young talented riders. All this and Ben, WSBK stands to have a stellar season next year.
agreed, GP has been the top of the top for a long time in my eyes but im now more excited about this years WSBK races. I mean who doesn't love watching Rossi and Stoner on the GP machines, but the competition looks like its going to be tighter in the WSBK races this year. Now will that stop me from watching both?.....heck no! ha ha
Ben has mentioned the atmosphere in WSBK as much friendlier than MotoGP, as he has some experience with both. I expect this year in MotoGP to more exciting than last. I expect Nicky to be much closer to the top because his team will actually listen to him.
Ben WSBK Looks like we can count on Ben to do one of two things, either win or crash trying. Looks like this years championship will go to ducati... What an awsome race 1 at Assen, the last two laps were incredible. Then race 2... down on lap one. His front tire must not have much feel or is unpredictable.
Re: Ben WSBK Don't count Ben out yet, Nitro Nori has a distinct habit of crashing as well you will recall. It's tipped in Haga's favor now, but anything can happen and Ben is the guy to take advantage of any misstep by the leader.
Race 1 today in WSBK was one of the best races I've seen in a LONG time. Three guys within .4 seconds of each other the ENTIRE race.....Holy smokes! <<<Spies Fan
Just saying to see how it sounds.... spies and Edwards should be team mates. I bet spies will end up taking a ducati
