I was watching Superbikes on speed channel last night, they were at 2Wheel Tuner magazine in the shop area putting some mods on a bike,

when there it was in the background, for about a second, a Sportbiketracktine banner.

Well I guess if you are gonna post the fact that you actually watch "Superbikes" then announcing your love and keen eye for anything STT would be the way to do it :)

You lost me after "I was watching Superbikes on speed..."

Most of what they put on that turd of a show is why it's so expensive to insure a sportbike for the street. Sad thing is there's probably more people watching it than watched 2 Wheel Tuesday / Greg's Garage, which was actually an award winning show. Worse yet, more people will watch a replay of an umpteen year old NASCAR race than the Daytona 200, so we don't have a leg to stand on.

After being with Speed for a year in a half (Didn't have it on my dish)

It's nice to see any motorcycle shows on tv.

It's not my favorite show, but if I'm flipping and I see mikes I'll stop and watch to see what's up.

I agree the motorcycle programing was a lot better the last time I had I hade Speed channel.

Bring back Dave Dispane and Motoweek

Actually he has it correct. Dispain did a program long ago called motorweek, it was the first show which even talked about motorcycles. The show was a recap of all the week's motorsports. I am surprised anyone but me remembers it. Any chance you also remember your high school locker combination???

I'd be willing to bet that his bike would never make it through tech! (something about the "no fur" rule, just to begin.)

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the show superbikes either. I think it gives a bad image. If there was nothing on I might watch it for a couple of minutes though. I'd much rather throw in an old racing video out of my collection or search for vid laps on the internet though. I think it's more productive to watch guys that are good at racing lines that how a guy can drive like a retard on the street.

I was just hoping he would get wind of it and come out and play . Im not sure if it would be a good thing to be on camera anywhere near that guy .

I had just got home , turned the tube on and I heard some squid (probably not with us now ) say " You gotta do 180 for 30 miles to ride with us ."

Then another donor was pulled over doing a nice stand up .And walked .wtf ? In my town he would have been towed , beaten, and arrested , then beaten again . Cary cops have this down to a science .

Anyway that show has done nothing good for our sport .

Has anyone seen Greg White ?

Yep, Rob those are some VERY good examples of why I think it gives our sport a bad image. It's the coolest sport in the whole world and everyone thinks we're probably retards like that. Oh well, at least there's people like us to spread good word around about it like us at least. The only thing is we don't have T.V pull.

I've been riding for forty-one years, I have friends and customers that have been at it for over sixty years. I had two uncles that rode from before WW1 until after WW2. According to all, it has always been like this.

I came to accept the fact that most of those that don't ride look down on us and probably allways will. No, I don't think the show does us any good. In the grand scheme of things though, I don't think it really matters.

I've watched a few of the "Superbike" episodes. I have to say the episode with the 2 track privateers was pretty interesting. Of course I loose interest when guys start beating their gas tanks in or ride a motorcycle with no front tire.

Speaking of MC shows, has anybody caught "Speed On Two Wheels" on the Discovery Science Channel?

It was directed and produced by two ducati riding brothers from Cry Havoc productions who also do a blog called "Twisting Asphalt".

Although a lot of the information is remedial for those of us who have already spent a fair amount of time on the track, it's got great info for street riders and track novices and there is some interesting stuff there for more experienced riders as well. The show basically covers how performance is developed for racing motorcycles and riders in a pretty comprehensive way for a mainstream show (everything from explanations with graphic animations on gyroscopic effect and countersteering, to front brake use, to the benefits of on-board telemetry and devices like quick-shifters for racing). In fact, we couldn't help thinking it was probably a lot of information to absorb for a riding novice.

There was commentary from Nick Ienatsch, Matt Mladin and Roger Lee Hayden, with video from testing at Road Atlanta, as well as some time spent in the Bologna Ducati factory showing how bikes are designed and assembled with performance in mind.

For those who didn't see it already, it's well worth a look. It finally lends some credibility to our sport that I think the outside world can appreciate. It will be airing again on January 20 @ 6pm. Set your TiVos!
