    I hope all are well.

Ok, I know I am old. When I turned 40, I was no longer able to connect up my stereo, TV, and VCR. All the digital devices in my house are flashing 12:00 but changing a shield on a Suomy SPEC-1 helmet is just frickin ridiculous. I can't get both of the plastic side covers back on! There has to be a trick. Does anyone have a trick of the trade they can share with this old man?

    Thanks and ride safe,

    Brian

Thanks for the info. I was thinking that approach may work. I can get the lower piece to connect but the upper piece is the difficult one to align.

I would not use the smack method for fear of breaking one of the tabs (replacement side pieces are about $60).

There should be a red tool that comes with the Suomy helmet. Take this and use it to push the lever at the bottom. It will fit in between the side plate and the helmet.

Lay the top piece in and hook the top in place, then, use the tool and push the lower tab in and it should hook up for you.

Test it to make sure that it is secure. Reverse this to take them off.

I second the smackdown. This is how the Suomy rep at AMA races does it to the helmets of the pros, and how I do mine. The trick is to be sure everything is aligned just right before the smack.

Thanks for the advice. I am aware of the tool and used it to take off the side pieces. I also tried to use it to attach the sides but with no luck. I had to use the smack method. Now I have to move somewhere where it is sunny all the time because I am never taking the dark shield off!
