Ok..... Bonnie and I decided to race the 25 hour race over Halloween weekend.

The first Frog Hollow race was a blast. It was my first race and I think I'm hooked and Bonnie too.

I chose my Kona Hei-Hei 29er for the race.... these are many fast flowing parts on the 13 mile course and the 29er is super fast.

We did 20 laps total. A classic was when one of our guys showed up on a Knowly 7 inch/36lb bike for his 2 (back-to-back) night laps.. I recall hearing "Dude, make a wrong turn to Gooseberry, chair lift is over there?" and then he did a hour and four minute lap on it. Too much fun.

We had some priceless moments in the pit (like at the start when our guy couldn't find his bike and we started calling ourselves Team "Fukizit". As in "My bike, where the Fukizit!!!") My side still hurts from hysterical laughterand over that one. The teams creative placement of rubber spiders, sorpions and one rubber rattlesnake created some fun as well.

Great time and as far as bang for your buck, it's tough to beat.

Oh ya, we took first in our class.

We won by two laps (26 miles....). We have a 65 year old guy on our team who clicked off 58 minutes day time laps (he's a little slower at night....) my fastest lap was a 1:06. I rode three night laps.. the most memerable was my last. about 3 miles into the lap I witnessed an incredible moonset.. big orang full harvest moon stting over the mtns to the west and then during the latter part of that lap the eastern sky lit up into twilight over Zion. That right there was worth the price of admission.

Another great moment.. guy passes me on the Hurricane Rim at night and shupermans it directly in front of me. I'm thinking he's hurt. He's actually ok. His derailuer hanger and torn off the bike and I ask "Hey dude, is there anything I can do for you?" to which he replies "No man... but it looks like I just entered the single speed class!!!"

The coruse was 13 or so miles long with equal parts of double and single track so there was tons of fun stuff and also plenty of places to pass as well. Great course.

If you need a Zip Code for Map Quest 84779.
