Hi there... new track rider here and I have gone and gotten my self a spare set of wheels for my 88 Honda Hawk street/track bike.

I run Mich Power Pilots (110/70/17 frt & 160/60/17 rear) on the street and I went to a track day last fall with some free Mich Power Race tires off a buddies KTM Duke Motard (120/70/17 and 16/63/17 rear) and will get one more track day out of the Power Race tire before I need to replace.

So since I have the option of switching out wheels and tires what a good suggestion for track tires on the spare set? I dont have warmers and will not have any anytime soon if that helps any.

I understand that my fronts are a hard one to find in many brands at the 110/70/17 range.

For pretty much any trackday rider, the Pilot Power tires (and PP 2CT) will work great from novice up through intermediate and into advanced. Think of it this way, it's more difficult to learn how to ride a 1Kcc bike fast because of (among other things) the heaps of power it has... kind of becomes a crutch in a sense. One will learn alot more on a less powerfull bike. It's the same with tires. Using race tires (while not a bad idea to try them out just to see what they're like) is a bit of a waste untill you learn the limits of street tires. Plus using race tires will lead to issues that are better left for a faster, more experienced you.
