Almost all tire compounds (street legal and racing slicks) are working well at temperatures between 145 & 185 degrees Fahrenheit; my non-adjustable chicken hawk warmers are set at 175.

Hey Dean, fancy meeting you here.. Are the power race tires Keith is using the dot tires like you suggest for me, as usual I'm confused. I am debating putting on a 180/55 instead of the 190/50 in the rear, what do you think? My rear tire really took a beating last Sunday, I checked the psi and it was the same I always run, 28.5 rear cold. Thanks Barryc

    Hey Barry,

Yes, this is the same type tire I suggested you get. Monte has the best deal on the PR1/PR4 combo. Just remember, they stick on the track... but wear faster the Pilot Powers.

Just remember if you put the 180 on instead, you may want to check ride height and geometry - it is going to handle a little different I believe.

By the way... 28.5?? A little light maybe? Take a look at the tire wear. I am sure someone on here with more knowledge will step up.

If you are running Power Race the sidewalls are much stiffer than a regular tire and cold temp is 23 to 24 max psi. You maybe tearing up the tire because they have too much pressure.

Ask Monte or Brian with STG and they will confirm.
