I told Travis I was having trouble getting into the right gear for Turn 1 (and others). I would bang through the gears down the straight and then brake hard and try to down-shift 2 or 3 times before the turn. Usually I could only manage one. Then it seemed like I was in the wrong gear the rest of the lap, shifting in different places on different laps trying to get it right. I like the twist he put on it. He said "Well, what gear do you want to be in going through Turn 1?" It may seem elementary, but I guess I never thought of it that way. So as I thought about it, I didn't know. I did know I want 2nd gear at the Bus Stop. So I backed up from there and discovered that through Turn 1 I should be in 4th. He also told me to try limiting the number of shifts. Might be easy on his R1, but what about my 600RR? Well, it seemed to work for me. Coming out of the last turn in 2nd, I shifted into 3rd, 4th, and 5th down the front straight. But instead of shifting into 6th, I just stayed with 5th a little longer (as he suggested). Then I shifted back to 4th braking into Turn 1. Just one down-shift and I am in the gear I want. Nice! Down to 3rd before Turn 2 and stayed there all the way to the bus stop. Stayed in 2nd the rest of the way. It was much less hectic not worrying about all the shifting. And it seemed like I was going much faster, too. I am going try this same approach at other tracks.

    Thanks, Travis!
