been lusting after one of these for awhile. i have ridden sportbikes for years, rode and raced supermoto bikes for the last few years. looking to see if this might scratch the itch?

anyone know of any for sale in the michigan, ohio, indiana area? really only looking into the R model. just a preference.

anyone have thoughts after riding on track AND street? looking for any input good or bad.

    thanks in advance. ski

Amazing brakes on these bikes. Beyond the ability to just slide the rear around and have all kinds of stupid fun, the brakes stood out most to me.

Well that, and the throttle response. Definitely a different feel from the I-4 I'm used to, but loads of fun. Dooooo it!

don't forget to include the Aprilia Dorsodurro in your search for bikes like that.

thanks for the help guys, brian, I AM GOING TO CALL THEM AND OR GO THERE THIS WEEKEND. if i cant get a decent deal, i'll give you a shout. THANK YOU FOR THE OFFER!!!

above and beyond in my book.

jig, i like the looks of the aprillia's but, with their bike and parts distribution issues, i would never consider them as a bike i wanted in the garage. having items available in a timely manor is HUGE for me. being in the inventory control scene for 20+ years, i look at things like that in my purchases.

i am sure i will get flamed for that but, i have flame retardant undies. ski

with the new fox dealership right in Grand Rapids that is an Aprilia dealer...you think that will still be an issue?

Also with the way no dealers stock parts anymore...everyone is mail ordering anyway. I thought AF1 (big aprilia dealer in Texas) was really good at supplying parts....but may be wrong.

BTW...thanks again for letting me ride your girl. :D

I also have been looking into these.

From what I have gathered, stock ones have or did have fueling issues that caused them to bet twitchy are low speeds.

Putting on an Akra pipe and remapping seems to have cleared up most of the issue. Others talk about different throttle cams that help low speed riding.

Here is a good deal but I get dibs as I found it first. If SFarm totals my Hyper, this one might be in the garage:

i emailed that guy yesterday about that bike. he has taken alot of the good stuff off of it now. and the big thing that turns me off is, it has 17,500+ miles. alot of miles for a seasonally used toy. my 2003 only has 8000 miles. LOL! ski

if you are going to get one get the R version, worth the extra $$
ridden both a lot at the track the R is more fun at the track, the regular one is better for the street
they make easy power and dont do anything bad
get a set of pipes and a tuneboy and the fueling is great
everything you need is at superduke.net

    hi

hi, if you are going to race or track it get a SDR
that said l was not much quicker on the SDR than the SD and it made 17 more RWHP
check out gogo's post on superduke.net he had been trying to race a SDR, some interesting setup and chassis info
would love to have a SDR again, l wanted to race it but didnt want to toss a $$ down the track

    Sdr seat

That sdr seat is a little tough on the street
the smr might be a better street option
they are all super fun bikes and more than enough for the street
I need to come up and ride dirt with u guys[/u]

well i rode a demo 2008 R with the akro pipe and slipper. it was an expirience for sure.

obviously some adjustments need to be made to get it to fit me. the shifter needs to be lowered in a major way, i darn near have to lift my foot off the the pegs to shift it. that is easily remedied. the tranny was smooth as silk, i REALLY liked that.

the twitchy throttle HAS to have something done to it. a portion was, it had too much play in the cable but, alot was just efi on a big twin. it's either on or off. i had no real way to pick up a neutral throttle feeling (especially mid corner), and that was unerving. but, it is something i have to work on, being smoother. but i am hoping you can do something to make it alittle more compliant.

first impressions... it is TALL but, so am i so... i like it. i didnt get alot of seat time but, i liked what i did. feels like a strong, larger, heavier supermoto. did i say i liked it? LOL! the taller wider bars give you an upright, dirtbike riding feel. i kept having to tell myself to get my arms out of the attack position (like on a dirtbike). the sound is awesome to say the least! something about a big performance twin sound that makes me go ga ga.

the power is like a tractor, the torque curve is big and broad. and as stated by you guys, the brakes are outstanding. you can put it on its nose anytime you want , you can feel, literally with a couple fingers pull the rear tire will be in the air. the suspension was super stiff and seemed like it's namesake, R for racing. fairly harsh in a street or touring situation but again, easily remedied.

i was offered the demo bike or a new one. the prices were fairly similar but, the demo has a few nice and needed upgrades. now i just have to talk myself into i need this bike and justify the expense.

    what to do??? ski

I am the guy with the 17500-mile bike. New price = $7000. Sheesh--the pipes alone are $1400. Miles: I don't think anybody over at Suerduke.net has "worn a motor out" yet. Rotax seems stout in that regard.

I will be at Grattan today on SMR.

Check this out -- have read many good reviews. Seems to cure the light switch throttle on some FI bikes.
