    Hi,

I wanted to check with the fast guys before getting one. Which gear indicator to get for an 07 r6?

Something that doesn't mess up on the gear count, and one with very little time lag in displaying the current gear.

on a side note, those of you who use it, how frequently do you use it?

    Thanks guys!
    as always appreciate your comments

Use the one in your head... it never lags! You shouldnt have time to look at a gear indicator, since you will be shifting while setting up for a turn. Again, if you have time for that, brake later!

    just my $.02

    Thanks 600dubbar & Justin.

I understand what you are saying Justin, but there are a couple of times you aren't sure about which gear you are in.

I hear even TT (Todd Thomas) has one!!!

Its true.. he does have one that came on the bike. However, he has complained more than a few times that it has a terrible lag in it.

I dont always believe in those gadgets. I would much rather rely on myself, and if i am unsure, i err on the side of an upshift rather than a downshift.

    Hard to argue with that.
yeah the lag threw me off when i rode a bike that had a gear indicator.

my only concern was erring and downshifting too low. but as you say, when in doubt stay higher.

Besides money saved on gear indicator can go towards the Bazzaz fund!

    Thanks again Justin.

Heh missed my count one time last year into turn 1 at RA, that had to be my personal best time thru that corner....and it explained why turn 3 was coming at me sooo fast hehehahahah...oh that was 3rd not 2nd kind of moment......never looked at that corner the same way again....now if only I could get that SV650 to behave...I'm curious if you really even have to slow down there on one of those....

I am interested in one too.

The GSXR had one stock.... but well.... the LCD in my gauges is in less than perfect condition :?

I want one again, only for those times where you get held up, so you dont make an upshift or Downshift you normally do.... and then are screwed up on what gear you are in. I have been lost for half a lap before until I get to a straight and can shift all the way to 6th to figure out where I am and get back to where I need to be :banghead.

Trying to do MATH when on track SUCKS.

"Ok, I am supposed to be in third, shifting to 4th here, then I normally back shift to second.... but I am already in 4th right...... I think so..... so I need to take two down and none up right......... CrAaaaaaaaaappppppppppppppp I missed my braking marker"

I have the GiPro from healtech (same company that makes the speedohealer) on my gsxr. Like most say its pretty much usless unless you have an oh sh!t what gear am I in moment. It's a full plug and play unit no splicing harnesses. The price is high since it comes with a TRE built in (which is all but useless). There is no noticible lag, since at least on suzukis it works off the stock gear sensor, not calculating based on speed and rpm, so there is no training the unit involved either.
