I paid $305 for a pair of pilot power 3's a couple weeks ago. Probably a little cheaper if you don't have a 190 rear. The used BT016's that came with my spare wheels looked fine, but I didn't feel comfortable running them. I still ran out of traction and crashed, but it wasn't the tire's fault.

Yeah, same as my '09 SV650. That is what I took to my first track day Memorial Day weekend last year. Rode to ACC Saturday to replace my stock tires with power pures for peace of mind, then rode back Sunday for the south track. Did 7-8 novice days on those tires, and still use them on the street with plenty of tread.

If you don't mind me asking, what was the cost? You can PM me if you don't want to post it.

Does anyone know the name of the tire guy? I've got a full day to scrape some cash together if its not outrageous, or if its too good of a deal to pass up.

I did take inventory of all the money ive spent so far getting ready. For most people i'm sure its not a huge amount but when i decided in january to do a track day i was just thinking...."oh i'll upgrade my gear, which i need to do anyway, and then show up! wont be that much!"

    $2600.00 later....:hat:

    tire service
If you buy from them at the track, mount and balance is free (if you remove the wheels from the bike). They can do that too, if you don't have the capabilities.

You can call and purchase ahead as well, to make sure they have the size/type you want.

My set of Power Pures also cost about $300. I think the Pilot Power 3's are the replacement for the Power Pures, so I'd get a set of PP3's and expect to pay about $300. Not sure if that includes tax. It didn't last year, but did this year apparently. Maybe that was the tire disposal fee.

The tire service is being done by Racer Cafe.

Call Eric over at Racer Cafe about the tires, to be sure he'll have the right size for your bike if you decide to buy 'em at the track. 630-443-5178

Don't adjust your tire pressure till the morning of. If you set them before they may be different pressure due to temp or altitude change.
I have a tire gauge you can use, do some research into what pressure is right for the track for the battlax.
Also I have a stock clear windshield for a '11 zx10. I'll bring it and we might be able to jimmy it on, if it fits you can use it for the day.
    Lose the number plate!

    Aussie, thanks man. Thats awesome.

I'm not too worried about the windscreen. At full tuck with my chin on the tank i can still see over the top of it. I'm not ballsy enough to attempt full tuck tomorrow i dont think. I'm not so concerned with speed as i am learning to properly turn a bike. We don't really have turns down here in the farmland so i'm excited to learn. I just want to be safe and smooth.

130+MPH down the front straight at Putnam tucked behind a pitch black screen... You'll be fine.

Also remember - it's your first track day, not your last! Hold plenty back and get the bike home in one piece. Don't give in to the red mist!
