Bike was dropped prior to purchasing and it messed up the threading inside the bar for the bar end. Finally got the bent hardware out and now there's no way to keep a bar end secured. Everything else (switches, levers, etc) are all good, so I'm willing to take a look at the whole left side assembly or just the bar I need. Thanks
Any recommendations? I'm def not opposed since this is rapidly becoming much more of a track bike than street bike anyway. Little prep for future "learning" may not be a bad thing. EDIT: let me clarify, I have no idea who makes good aftermarket/track parts for this sort of thing. I'd really just be googling and guessing.
Hey, i'll give you the clipons free, if you buy the rest of my 08 600RR. it's for sale *sorry, could not resist*
I wish I could...I've only been riding for 3 months and while I intended to hit the track, had no idea that I might want or should have bought a track bike instead of a street bike. That's a problem I plan to solve this winter - assuming my year end bonus is what I think I deserve I will definitely be looking for my track bike to also be on 08 RR. I absolutely love this bike and want to use this platform as a constant through a good portion of my learning process.
http://stores.sportbiketrackgear.com/Detail.bok?no=3560 Vortex clip ons for 07-12 600RR. Is this really all I need and it will work with the rest of the stock parts?
Yeah, just get the ones with the same diameter as the forks. All the stuff on your handlebars should install onto the clipons fine. You might want to pick up some spare bars as well.
Yeah, those will make tight turns interesting. I know Apex has one with a riser, and the guy that owns the company is pretty fastop:
I appreciate all of the information - mm being fork circumference and needing risers. So here's the 4" riser Apex clip ons which, looking at the included pic of my bike, I would want/need. Seems pretty stupid that Vortex would sell bike specific clip ons that change bar height by that much... http://stores.sportbiketrackgear.com/Detail.bok?no=11044 Anyway...need to find someone who threw their bike down on the right side and has an OEM left side for cheap. Can't justify almost $300 at the moment just to get a bar end on that handlebar. The grip is still nice and tight and in no danger of sliding off.
Yup, I bought the Vortex for my wife's '07 and found out the hard way that it doesn't properly clear the bodywork. It works Ok for the track only, but I am saving for bars with risers for my '07. The advantage to the aftermarket clipons is that, if you break one, it is easy to slide a new one in and get back out there quickly.
left side OEM clipon I have a good left side OEM handlebar/clipon for your bike. I'll be at autobahn (Joliet) labor day weekend. PM me if you're interested
I have some clip-on for you. I will be at barber at the end of the month or I can mail them. Give me till this evening to go home and take pictures. ---Whit
