So I need a swing arm because my spool/slider snapped with the threaded nipple on the rear of the swing arm.

I have found one, but one side doesn't look as good as the other side.

    What do you think?

Price is 10 bucks for the swing arm and 20 bucks to ship.

All the other ones I have been looking at are between 50- 90 bucks in pretty fair condition.

Its a '02 GSXR 1000 (in case anyone has one laying around they want to sell)

It looks like that swingarm has the same issue that you currently have?

I guess it's at least there, but rashed and is just as useless as if it were missing.. If it were me, I'd run!

I thought the same thing Tiller thought...

"Its rashed..and nearly useless.........but at least its there."

Then came to mind what Liquid was saying....." why not just re-tap it?"

I had this happen on a GSXR 600. I took the bike to a local welding shop and had them weld an aluminum plate (about 3/4 by 3/4 inch. 1/4 inch thick) on the bottom of the swing arm then I drilled and tapped and put a new spool on. Cost me about 30 bucks

Or trade your swingarm stand for a spool-less one?

+1 for the welding recommendation. It was done on an acquaintence's Kaw after a crash and it turned out to work perfectly.

A good machine shop can drill it out perfectly on center and if need be helicoil the thread if damaged.

Do not have it welded! Swing arms are tempered after welding by the factory and you will lose the temper in that area making the material soft from preheating for good penetration. That's not to say, you can't get away with it, but not a good idea. Note, there is a reason the factory does this process.

Dang, I have an 04-05 swingarm you could have for the shipping cost but I am not sure it would work.

I'm not sure it would work either.

    I think the 750/1000 only fits 00' - 03'

But I do appreciate the offer! :thumb:

Saw this as an option. There are a few I have been looking at.

Just didn't want to break the new chain, dis-assemble the rear suspension (dog bones, etc...) and all the work that goes with replacing a swing arm.

    Its still an option though.

Kent at GMD Atlanta repaired a swingarm I had with the spool broken off. I think Vortex sells the part, Kent cleaned up where mine was broke, welded new piece on. I sat on bike while it was on rear stand afterwards. on and off stand millions of times and never had any issues
