I have read the 2016 CCS rules and cannot find anything addressing tire requirements for Ultralight weight Superbike. Can our SV650 run slicks ? Should we? Any pros/cons for using slicks vs high performance street legal tires?

I know WERA changed the rules this year for slicks in all classes... Don't know about CCS

CCS only requires DOT legal in supersport classes. Slicks are allowed in everything else. Do you need them? Up to you. They'll last a bit longer though. Problem with slicks though is it really really sucks if it starts raining mid race. DOT's it sucks also, just not so bad. Hell I remember when we weren't even allowed rain tires in SS. We just put on regular street tires as "rains".

Getting rid of worn slicks is a problem. At least you can find someone to buy your DOT takeoffs. I've used takeoffs on my YZF750 since 2001.

Draik ran the AMA/CCS weekend at VIR this year. He only had to run the DOTS in the superstock classes, as previously mentioned.

Granted, he isn't super fast, but his times didn't suffer between the slicks and dots (running dunlops). The profile is slightly different between the slicks and dots though. The dot is "flatter".

Did he have a preference on DOT vs slicks as to the feel?

    He still prefers the slicks.

I can't really tell the difference between slicks and DOT's with Pirelli tires. It the tires are the same profile then you don't need to play with set up switching between each slick and DOT.
